Vette Servo - Now what

Well, I dropped by a local tranny shop and he had a Vette servo in stock, or so he says. It is a Transtar K61986. It has one plate with a smaller inner piston. IIRC, the stock truck one has a larger inner piston.

So anyway, if this is it, I need to get the O-rings to put on it. Anyone have a part # for them from GM? I want to put this in this weekend, and see what kind of a difference it makes.

Hmmm...thought mine came with the o-ring?

Mine has two split seals. Guy at the shop told me to just use my old ones.... but I would rather use new...

I'd bet any tranny shop will have them...

This might not go like I want to.... I just peeked up under the truck. There is barely enough room between the body and servo cover to get my hand in there!

I think this is going to take a re-think.... do I REALLY want to do this?

also, how is that going to work in conjunction with the tranny settings you've already done through the tune, with increasing the line pressure to firm up the shifts already??

will it be too much??

From what I was reading, it will make it rough, but wont harm the slushbox....

Only thing you need to change for the vette servo is set the shift times to zero, nothing else "needs" to be changed, maybe lower shift pressure if it shifts too hard for the persons liking.

The vette servos make quite a big difference in shifts, highly recommended.

I want to put it in... but where my servo is located, it is a VERY tight fit. I can get my hand in there w/ a little bit of wiggle room. I don't think dropping the tranny down will help. There is a shield that protects the tranny from the exhaust system. If I remove that it will make it a little easier to do.

2004 GMC SEIRRA
HAD TO REOMVED THE SHIELD AND LOWER TANSMISSION TO GET IT IN MY TRANSMISSION.
IT REALLY MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE INTHE SHIFTING. I INSTALLED WITH A SHIFT KIT AND HIGH PRESSURE REGULATOR

Well... I bit the bullet and went out and changed it. Not that bad actually. Removing the heat shield makes it easier to get to.

Hardest part was getting the cover back on. Tried to press it in place with a prybar and put the clip back on, but I just couldn't do that clip one handed. Ended up taking a socket and wedging between the cover and the truck to hold it in place. Then it was a cake walk.

Light throttle shifts you don't notice it. Get a little heavier and you definatley know it! WOT I really dont feel it that much. Might be that I need to get Monte to adjust my tune some.
