Engine codes and my heavily modified SRT8 Challenger.

Post by tnek »

Im very concerned about my car. I am going to contact the install shop and tuner but would like some outside opinions. I just got the car back 2 weeks ago from the performance shop and Im getting the following codes.
P0420 1/1 Catalytic Conv Eff
P0430 1/2 Catalytic Conv Eff
P0300 Multiple Cylinder Misfire
And this is the one I worry about
P2098 Post Catalyst Fuel Trim Sys Too Lean Bank2

Now let me list the mods starting at the front:
C&L CIA
Modern Muscle 85mm TB
180 Tstat
Catch Can
Indy Heads Hot street
Hot street Cam (232/230 .560" 114 I believe or close to it)
Underdrive Pully
Kooks headers with High Flow Cats
Corsa cat back
Precision Industries 2800 stall converter.
Plus custom dyno tune.
Dyno sheet provided lists 442 RWHP.

I was told that with the cam being as healthy as it is that there would almost always be some kind of code. I can buy that and I figure that the random misfire code is due to that. The car has the typical cam lope and mild shake at idle I would expect.
The catalytic conv eff codes for each side I shrug off due to the headers and cats.

BUT I worry about the lean code. I was planning on going to the drag strip this weekend but Im not sure now if I should.
Do other owners with mods like this have engine codes??
Looking for some info or someone with similar experiances.
Thanks for any helpfull input.

I have all the same stuff, plus more, and NO CODES. Something isn't right.

If anything, my cam (.528/.531, 268/272, 113LSA) should be throwing codes and yours shouldn't. You have more lift, I have more duration. The longer duration should be confusing the computer, not the higher lift.

If anything it's usually bank 1 that runs leaner than 2. With all the codes I'd be worried. I'd keep your foot out of it until you get things sorted out. Most guys with headers and high flows have the rear 02's turned off. but you've got all that other stuff going on.

Yep, you should not have any codes with a proper tune.
I would first check your wiring to make sure it is intact, i see alot of melted and cut wiring.

P0420 1/1 Catalytic Conv Eff Can be disabled through your Predator
P0430 1/2 Catalytic Conv Eff Can be disabled through your Predator
P0300 Multiple Cylinder Misfire Can be adjusted out in the tune generally, and is related to the cam.
And this is the one I worry about
P2098 Post Catalyst Fuel Trim Sys Too Lean Bank2 Good chance this is a small exhaust leak...
