Newb Questions...

Post by Harry »

I just picked up the U7130 and raced home to install the "Economy Performance" setting hooked on to the RV (small 6000lbs) and went for a spin... I'm impressed!! Question is I pulled into a strip mall had the truck in park and noticed a fairly rough idle!? I gave the go pedal a quick kick only to see rpms run up 2000rpm stay there for a second and slowly drop back to 750rpm still with the rough idle... is this to be expected? I did bring her home went back to stock settings then reprogramed the "Economy" setting still have the rough idle. Also the dealer supposedly downloaded the latest downloads before sending me on my way. He told me I would be able to program for larger tire size, didn't see anywhere in menu tire sizing, is the U7130 capable of programing for increased tire size?

the 7130 doesnt do tire sizing.did you buy this from your dodge dealer?when u plug in look what version you are running on it.if its less than r27 you should download the latest update which is r27{r28 has some issues for now}try the tow tune or extreme to see if the idle is still ruff, mine idled very smooth on all settings.

Most likely has the r28update as I purchased programer today and the diesel performance shop checked for and downloaded latest upgrades. So, now I gotta make a run to puter shop to get me a cable for downloading :(...

What issues does the r28 have? I have it and it's fine???

Harry keep an eye on your exhaust temps when towing... mine would get toasty pretty quickly not towing anything...fyi

The issue I was having was at first start up the engine ran very smooth but, after a cruise up and down the highway with RV in tow I pulled into a strip mall and parked the truck idle was very rough. I got it reprogramed with the r27 pulled trailer out to folks place ambient temp was 95deg and running about 70mph tranny temp was steady at 160deg +/- in town pushing around 190 to 210, very hot day and lots of traffic. So, I'm happy for now hopefully the guys will get another upgrade?
