U7194 and preferable octane level

Post by Licit »

Wondering if the performance tune is written for 91 octane or 93 octane(assuming 91octane)? The predator for my 300c had the choice of 91CAI tune and 93CAI tune, that's why I am wondering.

what vehicle is this for??

if it's a truck, then the diablo/performance tune is made for 91 octane...

if it's a vette, then the diablo tune is made for 93 octane gas, and there will also be a separate 91 octane tune for it...

There isn't a 93 tune for trucks. Diablo tune in trucks is made for 91. Diablo tune in cars is for 93.

i installed the diablo performance tune on my Tahoe and it detonated like crazy. i was using 91 octane. i had to take out 12% spark advance on the 4k-7k. Is this normal or is our gas here in California just that weak?

you can use 93 octane gas with the 91 tune... won't hurt anything at all...

if you want even more power, and you use 93 octane gas all the time, you can consider getting a custom tune made for yourself to take advantage of the 93 octane gas...

yeah, depends on the gas you were using, what brand, a bad batch of gas, etc etc...

It's for the vette but it only has one choice of tune to install, I simply chose "performance tune" and then "install tune" and it wrote to the car. I never had the option of a 93 or separate 91 tune. I just had it unlocked on Monday by diablosport and then installed the one choice of tune that day.

Vettes should only run 93 octane anyway, high performance motor needs high test fuel.

You may want to tell that to the millions that only have 91 octane as the highest choice. I'm lucky we have 93 and 94 octane around here.
