Thinking of coming back to a predator but.....

Post by Dodgezilla »

Alright. I have been gone a while since I sold my 07 truck and sold the Predator that I had on it. I'm back in an 04, thanks to the poor economy, and I have been running a Van Aaken duration box. It's OK but a DL seems to give better throttle response so I am considering going back to one. Now, the one I am looking at belongs to a member here who ran it on his truck for a while with no issues. He sold it to a guy with an 05 and he had lots of problems trying to install it on his truck. Eventually he bought it back from the guy and called the tech support here who guided him through the process of getting the programmer back to normal. So, he offered to sell it to me now and I am thinking of buying it but I really really don't want to deal with any ECM issues. Is there any way to be 100% sure this thing is functioning correctly and ready to install on my truck BEFORE I try it and screw something up? Can it be sent to DiabloSport to be checked out and make sure it has the latest upgrades on it so I can be absolutely sure I don't have a corrupt programmer?

I'm glad you guys got that keycount issue fixed. My truck is an early 04 with only 30,000 miles on it and it still has a full warranty for a couple more years.Image[/img]

If the last tune written says original backup and it is on the latest revision, it should be good to go.

Yeah, if you power it up, you can see the revision on the top line of the main menu, and go to options/show last tune written to be sure it says original backup, and its all good.

Thanks guys. It took me two months to find this truck after I had to sell my 08 truck. My Predator should be here in the next couple of days. I'm not going crazy this time though. No $$$ for a trans right now so I'm just looking for better towing power and better throttle response. I'm sure I'll be happy.....

LOL!! I hear you there. I really liked my 6-speed manual but my left leg could not take the constant pressing in of that South Bend clutch while sitting in traffic everyday.
The worst part of all of this is that the 03 I traded in on that 07 dually had a fully built DTT Trans AND Formula1 injectors in it.
If I could only turn back time................................

BTW, I plan on trying to run the Predator together with my Van Aaken Duration box. We'll see how it works out....

Yes sometimes it cost a lot of cash to get right back to where we were. Just to let you know I believe that green trucks are the best ones. I have had a few green ones and they have all be great. Stay away from those evil RKL tranny killer tunes and you will be fine. I know how hard it is to resist the temptation, Evil can feel so good sometimes. we must be strong and resist resist LOL

Yes I am really trying to remind myself to not use them anymore.

Haha!! I will try my best to resist the urge!!!!!

After running the RKL on my 07 I am well aware of how much power it makes. I will have to start saving for a new trans because I will definitely want to run those tunes eventually......
