so I would spend $800 on a trinity then spend ~$350 an extreme puck so I can switch on the fly? $1200 total

is the trinity going to be able to work with other boxes like the Quad commander can? Just weighing out options.
I have a commander and have all my readings and can change on the fly. If I sold my quad X2 I could buy a smarty, and do most of the things trinity can (and cant) and be 700 richer.

These are questions that potential Diesel customers will be asking.
I had the predator and got rid of it so I could change on the fly, took forever to reprogram, and was bulky. got the puck and didnt notice much. I just dont feel like spending $800 for a colored screen and some eye candy.
Not being a jerk but throwing some stuff out there

also. how are sensors hooked up to it? I have a tranny temp sending unit and a pyro sending unit will I be able to use them?

It will have the ability to control any 0-5V device.

The external inputs will plug in through a earphone type jack.

I think I am going to wait a while on the trinity. there isnt enough info on it yet. I would also like to wait and see what customers think of it. I would like to see an install PDF or something that has pictures and instructions to see how things hook up. there is just too much missing to spend that coin right now. definitley going to be my top consideration but would like to see customer reviews.

when is the ship date?

Being in the diesel game for a while now, and knowing what it takes to program microchips, the SHIFT ON THE FLY issue leaves footprints... this being why your bully dog will leave traces in your ECM if you return to stock and head to the dealer.. Being the trinity is not shift on the fly there are certain parameters and registers that are not needed to be reset so it makes the tuner more "dealer friendly" as i call it personally..

Well. if you want to play that game. every performance chip or programmer you put in is traceable. If there is a computer and you know what you're doing its detectable. But on the dealer level you probably wont find anyone that could detect either of the two.

As far as keeping it as a trinity forum, what do you think I am doing. I am comparing the trinity to other programmers on the market. If anyone is going to buy it I think they would like to know what it can and cant do.

and as far as the smarty taking out ecms. I'm sure the trinity wont or the predator hasnt. right.

right now the smarty is the hottest programmer out there, so why not compare the trinity to it. If I am going to spend my money on something I would like to know what i am paying for.

I've never even heard of this "smarty" thing, so if its hot, they're doing a real shitty job of promoting it.

Another thing, none of DiabloSports tuners are traceable. They leave no data on the ECU, so once removed, its like the tune was never there.

if you dont have a diesel then yeah you wouldnt hear about it.

and yes any time you rewrite a computer it is logged. And again at the dealer level it isnt likely for someone to find it, but it could be found.

what about key cycles? did Diablo fix the key cycle count issue. the predator erased key cycles, which makes it obvious to a tech that you returned it to stock before you brought it to the shop.

No idea. Frankly, don't really care, because my dealer is my tuner. Yes, you read that right, the foreman of the dealers service department is my CMR tuner (and sometimes mod installer), so whatever the tuner does, or whatever I do to the vehicle, nobody cares.

All the forums say its untraceable. I'm just saying I don't care if it is or if it isn't because in my case it doesn't matter either way.

what forums? go on DTR tdr or cummins forum and they will all tell you it can be traced.

I'm not worried about it. I saw the trinity and it looks sweet and I am consider buying it. Thats why I am asking these questions.
right now it has the most bells and whistles than anything else. But the one that matters to me is switching on the fly.

Go to the LX Forums, the Mustang Forums, the GM forums and you'll read that its untraceable. I have a feeling that you DTR owners are mistaking something else for data being left over.
