I have a 2010 sierra with a 5.3 flex fuel. I used the diablo tune when I was using e85. It was the fastest the truck has ever ran with no knock retard. I went from 16 mpg with 87 octane gas with the 87 octane tune to 11 mpg using e85 with the diablotune.

My 2010 Colorado 5.3L is flex fuel. Although I've never used it, I understand my truck would run like the proverbiale "Bat out of hell. " In all cases the milage would drop by 30 to 35% and I've heard stories about burned valves and a host of other problems with running it full time. For one thing, ethanol burns a lot faster than gasoline so the timing has to be retarded a lot and the computer won't self-adjust that much if you run gas. As far as gas goes, the higher the octane the slower (and smoother) it burns. Several racing organizations have "gone green" but bear in mind that those engines are built to last about 1,000 miles or less. The only way I'll ever use ethanol is if gas isn't available.
