I have found that here in NE AL which is some what hilly I find a streach of road that has a good bit of hills and drive with the cruise off and in 4th gear (I have an A4) and monitor the LTFT while going up these hills and holding the throttle at ABOUT 20%. Now if you dont have hills you can find a streach of open road and hold the throttle again at ABOUT 20% and monitor.
I tried to do my monitoring in 3rd gear but to reach 20% it brought the rpm's up to high and my 3rd gear was yelling at me.

You basicly want to have a little load on the engine is why your trying to reach that 20%

Ok, the road I was on was pretty close to flat, with minor up hill grades and down hill grades... I'll try and watch it and do what your saying. It would be easier if someone was with me, but I don't have that option since my wife doesn't care... I was watching the log and driving all over the road

I wish I had someone closer to help monitor and give some good advice.

If you have a cell phone that can take flix's, you can do that too. Mine only take a flix for about 15 sec's so I do multiple ones then I send it to my computer via messaging from my phone. And then I can watch it once I get home. Make my adjustments and head back out. OR just watch the flix while parked in my car and make the adjustments and continue driving. Just some ideas for ya.

Remember you want to try to reach 20% and also have your rpm's about 2200-2500. If you can do it in high gear without disengaging the TQ convertor great.
I have found that my car dosnt like the 3rd gear thing, and with the rear gearing(stock) in my 04 GTO it puts the rpms to high in 3rd.
Just try to find the happy medium.

your "commanded throttle position" or "accelerator pedal position" doesn't have to be right at 20%... it has to be AT LEAST 20%, but can be more as long as your driving steady...

I know with mine in 4th gear and at 20% throttle(say climbing a slight hill) Im sitting at -.78 on both banks. Now at interstate cruise at at 75-80 and about 15%-16% throttle the trims will vary. And as much as +/- 3-4%. I found this out not to long ago, cuppled with the fact that I think I was running a tank of gas with E10 in it realy threw things off.

" To compensate for the added fuel when going into open loop or power enrichment, it is also recommend subtracting that same long term fuel trim percentage to the PE vs. RPM table."

Lew this is from your info you posted. I thought that if you go - on the slope, you would want to go + on the PE. Your info is saying otherwise?????

Steven,

Do you have a laptop?

Can you borrow one?

That is the absolute best way to log. You simply plug the Predator into the port and then plug the same cabel you use to update the predator into the bottom of the predator and into again the laptop. Startup the version of Dataviewer downloaded for our truck type. Click the little lightning bolt near the top after it says it is connected and the vehicle VIN information is displayed on the screen.

After that it should take you to the record area.. You want to select the items you would like to log (have to hunt for the ones through all the options in the upper left pane of the left panel). After selecting everything you would like to log then press the red record button at the top and make your runs. With the lappy you can log for quite some time. The more samples you take the higher the accuracy of the average.

Hope that helps..

That should work fine. You can get the USB to DB9 serial cable and it will do the same.

Make sure you get the right cable though.. You know male female :)

With the U7193 you can datalog. Meaning storing a log in the Pred, then send it to your computer. That is why I sujested using your cell phone to take a Flix or Pix while at the point of you data viewing to see if your LTFT are where you want them.
I have been told that DS is in the final stages of and update for the dataloging capabilities for the U7193. I have been waiting for this update for some time.

no, it can NOT save a log at this point in time.... they are currently workin on updates for all of the older GM tools to get this functionality incorporated - but as of right now, it can not save logs.

you have to view it live on the screen.
