Re: Successful 2013 installs please chime in!
Thanks. I received my Trinity and have downloaded all the updates. I will give it a shot in a few min!
Re: Successful 2013 installs please chime in!
I got the 93 octane tune loaded for my 13 challenger R/T and here is my review:
The unit is nice and the touch screen is very responsive.
I installed the USB drivers from the CD but my system is 64bit and the drivers supplied are only for 32bit so I had to download the 1.1.1 version online. After that it worked fine. The unit downloaded numerous updates and finally was ready to go.
I proceeded to connect it to my system.....okay shit you guys know all of this crap already so I won't bore you.
The only problem I had we're minor.
Backing up my stock PCM took two tries. I think on the first try when it said to turn the car off I turned it all the way off and then when it said to turn it back on I put it in run mode. This is with the Start button removed using the key.
This gave me a please wait dialog that never ended. I was hesitant but decided to unplug the Trinity and start over. This time instead of turning the key all the way off I just turned it to Accessory mode and didn't have this issue.
After writing the tune (it did this twice ) it asked me if I wanted to modify the tune. I entered my tire size, gear ratio, disabled MDS, selected firm shiftness, increased rev limiter to 6600 etc.
I didn't mess with fuel or timing.
I then processed to install the tune. (Not sure what the difference between writing the tune and installing the tune is)
My first impression driving the car was that the gear shifting was different. Someone described this in another thread as a feeling of driving with the e-brake on. I think it's just the transmission holding lower gears longer. It felt very different than the stocks shift points especially when I stomp on it and force a downshift. After driving 14k miles on a stock tune I could tell this would take some getting used to. I took her for a spin down the highways and did some WOT runs and could immediately tell there was more power especially torque. The gear changes were much faster and stronger (not nessisarily smoother - in fact jerkier) but I liked how it thew me back in the seat more than normal.
I am running Shell 93 gas and was monitoring the knock retard graphs and didn't see any knock whatsoever. This surprised me and I'm actually concerned that perhaps these sensors don't work?
In any case I'm going to have to drive it for a while before I can make any final conclusions.
I took her home and reset the adaptives, let my nerves calm down a bit from the excitement and took her out again.
This time I was peeling out in second gear like never before and started getting used to the shifting.
In conclusion, I think this tune adds a lot of power throughout the rpm range. The shifting does seem a bit sluggish especially downshifting to 1st while in second gear at about 28 mph. With stock tune it would downshift very fast and seemed to give me more speed down low but my tires are pretty mush gone and I'm pretty sure the extra torque and less torque managent are causing more wheel spin. It definitely feels like its pulling a lot harder and almost feels like a completely different car! So I am mostly happy with the initial tune and now I think I need new tires more than ever to put this extra power to work.
Hopefully more tweaks will be made to the 2013 challenger RT tune to get rid of some of the shifting issues.
Oh and I have the throttle sensitivity set at 15% but I think I'll go up to 20 tomorrow.
If any one can confirm that the KR monitors are working that would be great.
I'll do some 0-60 runs tomorrow when I have more time but I think it's going be faster than stock.

Re: Successful 2013 installs please chime in!
Update!!!!!
Okay so I reset the defaults on the 93 octane tune and just adjusted parameters for my 20" wheels. I also leaned out the fuel by 2.5% across the entire rpm band.
All I can say now is WOW!!!! This thing is a beast and shifting works perfectly now.
I'm getting about 1.5 degrees of SKR but no LKR at WOT. Many people have said that the 93 tune runs a tad on the rich side and that would explain not seeing any knock at first.
After resetting the tune to defaults and leaning it out a bit I am convinced that I have a rocket under my butt!
I did notice my fuel gauge drop down really fast but that's because I was stomping on it going on and off the highway for about an hour as I could not get enough of it!!!
Good work Diablo!!

thank you bsimon83 for your results. I am too working on installing mine on my charger rt
Re: Successful 2013 installs please chime in!
Great right up. TKS for sharing. I have a 1 hr dyno session this Friday to see the difference between stock, new tune and also see about a 1.5 - 3.5 short term knock I have just at WOT.

I think 5% throttle boost is the sweet spot. I have read that the canned tunes already have like 8% boost written in them.
I havent had any issues with the shift points, but im glad it worked out for you.
I run the 91 tune on the best 93 gas I can find here and I still get knock. You must have some good gas wherever your at.
Re: Successful 2013 installs please chime in!
It seems the 5.7's respond much better to the tunes than the 6.4's do.
I'm getting knock on both the 93 and 91 maps even with added WOT fuel across the range. I'm hoping its just a bad tank of gas (its Sunoco 93, first time going to that station so its possible). The 93 map is even giving me knock under partial throttle.
Right now running the 91 with 5% fuel increase across the board to play it safe. Cant burn through this tank fast enough.

+1 here.
I got my Trinity through Sean at Hemifever Tuning, so it came with a custom email tune and I'm very pleased. Knocked a => 1/2 second off my 1/4 mile time with no other mods and the drive-ability is greatly improved.
No problems at all with the initial install. However, later, I wanted to do a comparison with the factory tune, so did back-to-back restore/reset and backup/install. I ran into the dreaded "PCM error unlock for reflash (-34) or (-18)" issue. I called Vas in technical support and it appears that the issue is caused when the battery voltage gets too low on the 2013s. So upon his recommendation, I drove around for 20 minutes, then retried the tune load. That fixed it, and the load was flawless.

Thank you Bsimon83. I'm going to install mine tomorrow in my 2013 challenger. I'm kinda nervous about it too. I'm going to use the 93 octane and disable mds. I did all.the updates last night. Hopefully things will go smooth. I'll post results. Using the key instead of the start button sounds like a pretty good idea too. Unless its acceptable to use the button to go through the modes.

Re: Successful 2013 installs please chime in!
I just installed the 91 canned tune to my 3.6L with 8 speed Rallye package. Installed without a hitch. Though the EVIC will say Press Clutch pedal and push button to start even though the car is an automatic. This only occurs while the PCM is being read and written to. The EVIC is to be ignored while installing a tune. As others have noticed, it does take a while to install the tune. I took her for a drive, but wasn't able to open her up on the highway due to too much Friday night traffic out there. But she felt more responsive in normal and sports mode.

Just did a 1200km (thats 750 miles in American) road trip with the 93 octane tune/raised shift points/5% throttle boost and MDS off (sort of)
Very impressed, neglible difference in fuel economy, goes much better and on cruise you wouldn't know it wasn't stock.
Exactly what I was after.
From 110 t0 200 kmh (70 - 125 mph) it really goes hard.
Only problem is the MDS is not fully turning off, it stays off when cruise is set at 110 kmh + though.
