inTune I1000-DCX Problems (2012 Ram)
Re: inTune I1000-DCX Problems (2012 Ram)
Throttle seems more responsive, will go full 10% in AM. May experement with part throttle kick down.
Re: inTune I1000-DCX Problems (2012 Ram)
Back the truck up! Been reading some other threads and I saw that someone received a DCX bundled with a 180 degree thermostat for 93 Octane tune. I'm currently set at 91 octane but intended to go to 93, but now this info is just adding more doubt to this DCX mystery. Anyone read or know anything about this 180 degree thermostat requirenment??????
Re: inTune I1000-DCX Problems (2012 Ram)
Wait wait wait. What? So if we run the 93 we should expect a knocking if we don't have the 180 therm?
Re: inTune I1000-DCX Problems (2012 Ram)
Beats the heck out of me. Poster "Psantoro" indicated he received a 180 thermostat bundled with his DCX. He has a 2012 Challenger srt so maybe the smaller rad (if on that model it is smaller than our trucks) can't handle the tune without the thermo change. The more I read the more confused I become. My 2008 Charger R/T was programmed with the Predator for 93 and I did not change the thermostat on that. Have 130,000Km (appx. 78,000 mi) on this beast without any cooling problems even on the hottest days. Don't no whether I'm punched or boredTerrysRam wrote:Wait wait wait. What? Re: inTune I1000-DCX Problems (2012 Ram)
I have to assume you'd be okay then. If the temp has been fine...... Wonder if it just the difference in the Ram and the Charger?
BTW - I got to see some pics of the truck, the Charger and the Tiger!

Re: inTune I1000-DCX Problems (2012 Ram)
I got mine from modern muscle they had a bundle special free 180-tstat with purchase I have no Idea if its required to run the 93 tune. If that's true the 93 tune would have the adjusted fan settings already programmed in the tune? I don't know I'm like a scared little girl about installing this tune!Thetiger wrote:Beats the heck out of me. Poster "Psantoro" indicated he received a 180 thermostat bundled with his DCX. Re: inTune I1000-DCX Problems (2012 Ram)
I wouldn't exactly think your a scared little girl when we read so much about issues with this unit, especially when the vehicles won't start. I've tuned mine to 91 but have no intention of going to 93 until I know the support lines are open. I drive 50 mi one way to work every day and can't exactly catch a bus. Now there is a hint that going for the top tune might cause our vehicles to overheat. If modern muscle packaged that stat with the DCX then why didn't DS do it, they made it. Does MM know something DS doesn't. Saw the deal, $1.00 extra for the stat. DS customers are used to getting good products and we hope this is all temporary, but it seems that once we've put a tune in our vehicles that work we're afraid to use any other options the unit provides. We need some assurance from DS that this is all fixable and that if the vehicles does have to go to the dealer there is no watermark. Anybody agreePsantoro wrote:I got mine from modern muscle they had a bundle special free 180-tstat with purchase I have no Idea if its required to run the 93 tune. Guys, there is no requirement for a 180 thermostat for the 93 tune or any tune of that matter. The tunes diablo rights are set for the factory 200 deg thermostat. If you install one you will need to lower all fan temps 20 degrees lower than the current setting. The thermostat does help keep the manifold temps down due to a cooler engine compartment. I hope the info helps.

Helps me! Thanks. I had mentioned earlier that I never had an issue with the 93 tune on my 2008 Charger R/T and never changed the stat, but that was with the Predator. This new DCX wasn't quite as smooth a transition as my earlier Predator.Peter_beresky wrote:Guys, there is no requirement for a 180 thermostat for the 93 tune or any tune of that matter. good article to help understand thermostats and their relationship to our engines and power.

The saga continues. Diablo Sport couldn't reflash my ecu and had to replace it. It got here a day later than promised so I was out of town for work when it showed up. Got home last night and installed the new ecu. Truck started right up but would not respond to throttle. Evidently the etc (electronic throttle control) needs to be reset at the dealership. So I just had my truck towed there. I imagine when they see that the sticker on the ecu no longer matches the vin that this will come out of my pocket. Called DS and explained the situation to date. Mike said " I don't understand what you want us to do" I said " I want to know who's gonna pay" He says " well save receipts but I'm not authorized to say if we'll pay or not but stay in touch". I just made arrangements through hemituner (who's been great) to return it and get my money back. I've had about 10 hrs. of time in effort and phone calls tied up and a truck that hasn't run for a week. I'm over it.

Wow. That's horrible. So sorry to read this. I would think DS would foot the bill simply out of customer service and what word of mouth could do.
Please keep us updated and good luck!

Re: inTune I1000-DCX Problems (2012 Ram)
I installed the 87 tune without any problems. It's a little weird to go through the key cycles and the vehicle doesn't shut off while the tune is loading. Also the "no buS" on the display is curious. As a note, maybe DS should consider doing a quick video to show people what to expect. The throttle seemed to be lacking so I bumped it to 10% and turned off MDS. I filled the tank with good 89. Pretty happy with the performance for now.
