Headlight Advice
I am looking for some aftermarket headlights to see the road better at night. I have tinted windows and live in a rural area where there are many deer. I am trying to improve my visibility at night and wanted to get some suggestions. I have tried the Sylvania Silverstars before and really like them. For the price they are pretty bright. Does anyone have any other suggestions? I saw that Sylvania has come out with the Xenarc lights and they look nice too but I am looking for something a little less expensive.

RE: Headlight Advice
HIDs are illegal to retrofit, though everybody does it. They create tons of glare and have to be pointed stupidly low to prevent blinding other drivers.

Light Control Module LCM Fails
2004 Marauder LCM fails. The increase in current from after market bulbs will damage the relay in the LCM. Please add a headlight relay kit with fuses under the hood for brighter lamps and low currents to the LCM which will prevent failure. The relay can be replaced for $4 or you can replace the LCM for about $400.
RE: Light Control Module LCM Fails
Thats not really DiabloSports area of expertise. Nobody makes a kit for those cars? I know guys with Grand Marquis with HIDs so theres definetly something out there. More then likely you can just run a relay kit from eBay that goes to the battery. They don't use the factory wiring at all except as a turn on lead.

Yes, HID's are illegal, but only by the Federal Government. Your State and Local Law Enforcement can legally enforce that law.

RE: Re: RE: Headlight Advice
They're supposed to enforce the law, but none of them do. Federal law is king over any state or local laws. What they say goes, except when the local gov't doesn't enforce (why would they; They don't enforce their own laws!).
RE: Re: RE: Headlight Advice
This is what I shou;ld have said:
Its impossible to enforce. Its a federal law, not a state law. No county, city, town or even state law enforcement agencies can enforce a federal law. State agencies have no authority over federal rules and regs. Besides, the federal gov't has no traffic laws. The closest thing they have is DOT laws. Its up to the individual state to assimilate something that reads close. So unless it miraculously becomes a state statute in all 50 states, there really is nothing they can do.
Worst case scenario is you could fail inspection, if your state has inspections. Then again, most states with inspections accept out of state inspection requirements so it'd be valid to cross the state line, get it inspected and go right over to the DMV to reregister...
Plus, that ruling says the shop gets fined, not the individual. I dont need a shop to install lights for me.

RE: Re: RE: Headlight Advice
They are enforcing in the Houston region. Trust me, if the light does not have a DOT stamp, you will not pass inspection.
RE: Re: RE: Headlight Advice
The real problem with changing to HID is the light dispersal(blinding oncomming drivers). If you do change over to HID lights, you must also change out the projectors. More info can be found at "theretrofitsource.com". However, if you have a truck, hanging a couple of driving lights onto the front shouldn't be objectionable. Warn (as in Warn Winches) now has HID lights. I got my first look at them at SEMA this year. All the niffty new stuff can be viewed at "SEMAdigital.com".
