2nd prime delete for U7137 Please!

Post by ElectricBlueHemi »

The SC tuner eliminated 2nd prime downshift from anything below 65 mph. The trans would go to 2nd gear instead and that was nice when getting on the freeway. I think deleting 2nd prime would be ideal, but something similar to SC would work too. I know this can be done via CMR, but I'd like this in the handheld as either an option (ie. 2nd prime on/off) or part of the perf. tunes. I'm sure many others will be here to agree very soon.

I AGREE! It might be okay to let it use it above 65mph, but below that it makes it a dog on the downshift. It would be good to make it an option. The 2nd prime might be good on long freeway trips with lots of hills that require a downshift to 2nd.

However, at the track I would like to see what happens if it shifts from first into 2nd prime. The shift recovery would suck but at least it wouldn't have to shift to 3rd 50 yards before the finish line. Well, hopefully this tuner will give me enough power that it would have to shift to 3rd anyway!

I drove the truck last night with my buddy in it showing him how this strange transmission has 2 2nd gear ratios.

Second prime is way too tall. It already does 79-80 in regular 2nd which is too tall. Why the hell do we need this alternate gear that goes 87mph?

Get rid of it!!!!

More people need to chime in on this one.

My opinion is to make 2nd gear prime a user selectable window or 65-80 only, as it is useful when passing on freeway .

What would be really nice is when your cruising and you put moderate pressure for the 2nd prime to kick in, but when you give WOT, it deletes the 2nd gear prime. There's gotta be a way for any pedal pressure over 75% to delete prime and have it work at anything less. That would allow normal passing on the highway smoother than a jerking motion from prime delete. The WOT is what kills the prime gear, not the normal passing downshift.

Just some feedback for everyone. I beta tested a 2nd prime delete from Hemifever on dodgetalk.com (sorry if I'm not allowed to mention their forums). It downshift immediately into 2nd now, no lag time like SC Flashpaq and I can downshift to 2nd at any speed even above 70mph unlike SC. In other words, when I am going too fast for a 1st gear downshift it will go to 2nd gear not 2nd prime anymore. As long as I am not going too fast for second gear it will go to 2nd gear at downshift. Hemifever sent the file to Johan before sending it to me to verify that he made the correct tweeks. So, I took a chance on testing out 2nd prime delete with the possibility of screwing up my truck to benefit eberyone else. Your welcome JK. What do you think Mike?

He moved the 2nd prime kickdown to 7,00 rpms (but could move it to 8000 rpms if needed); in other words I never hit 2nd prime since my truck will never see 7,000 rpms.
