Need advice on i3 purchase to tune a stage 1 camshaft kit

Post by haeynous »

Working on a 2015 Charger and looking to install a MDS delete with slightly upgraded camshaft, lifter and spring kit. I have seen a couple of packages that seem to be in the range I want but all indicate that tuning would be required. There are plenty of sketchy tuners in my area that are available and some really good ones that may call you back within a year or two.

I'm toying with purchasing an i3 kit but will still need a base tune in order to disable MDS and that will pair with a camshaft of known specs. I searched the forum using the term "camshaft" and still didn't read anything that would lead me to an answer for my questions.

Is there a standard tune file database designed to work with specific camshafts? If so what camshaft profiles does it cover and has anyone been through this process?

Thanks

disabling MDS is no problem, but a cam swap will 95% require a custom tune to get it running properly.
