Data Logging; Need Laptop in Car?

Post by zztopo »

Hey y'all, I am going to upload a custom tune into my R/T, as I have (hopefully) received and downloaded the email tune into my i3. I have three (3) questions:

1) Is there a way to confirm the tune was transferred into the i3 before I pay Uber to get to my mechanic's garage? I don't want to waste the trip if the tune wasn't properly loaded.

2) My tuner, who was recommended by Diablo, sent me instructions to upload the tune into my unlocked PCM. After that, and in those instructions, he mentions having a Windows lap top (connected) in the car during the test run. Problem; I do not have a laptop, much less a PC Windows laptop. And no one in my life has one either.

Is it possible to record the data onto the i3, then come home and mail the PIDS to my tuner? I have no other way to accomplish this.

3) My tuner requests that I use a Windows PC in our transmissions. I only have a mac, and again, none of my friends has a Windows PC that I can use. I also read in several articles that the i3 is mac-compatible, and can send and receive files.

NOTE: I am not proficient at computers. I can do general operations though. I am an old school hotrodder, and my previous rides did not require any PCM or computer remapping. My previous 2010 SS Camaro and C5 Corvette were tuned in the shop. The only thing I had to do is toss them the key fob, and pick up a car with a fresh tune.

Thanks in advance for your help!

1. a message will appear on the i3 screen saying the tune has been successfully loaded once it imports the file.

2. Yes, you can log directly to the device.

3. you can use a mac to drag/drop custom tunes or email logs off the device.
