LM7 to L33 swap info needed

Post by FIELD8585 »

I plan on purchasing a Intune i3 platinum and have a few questions. I own a Avalanche 1500 (LM7 5.3) with a stock tune. I recently swapped in a 2005 GMC Sierra (L33 5.3). When I did the swap I retained the harness and PCM from the 2006 Avalanche and have had no issues with daily driving other than higher fuel consumption. I want to do a i3 canned tune but don't know what vehicle to select given the GMC had 4.10 vs 3.73 gears, smaller tire size, differnt cam and compresion. Do I select the GMC as the tune then make changes? Are tire size and gear ratio changeable on the i3? I appreciate your help.

no need to select anything, the device will base the tune on whatever is in the PCM.
If it runs good now, and speedo is correct, etc, just load the performance tune, dont mess with gear ratio or any of that.

Thank you for the quick response. Just wanted to make sure as I would have to believe there were variables in the 2006 Chev stock tune that were different than the 2005 GM stock tune. I am not sure how much "learning" the 2006 PCM will do on its own given the different cam, compression etc. Thanks again.

I have the option of getting a I3 platinum 8245 from a friend for free because it is still married to his destroyed truck. Is there still an option to send it in for an unlock and if so what is the present cost to do so. Thanks again.

All you need to do is update it and buy a license at the end for $165 in order to use it on another vehicle.
