I don't have On-Star in my '06 Vette. Do I still have to pull fuses before using the tool? The instructions are rather ambiguous on this issue. Also, I am assuming that the 93 octane tune will advance timing from factory settings. This is an issue on the Corvette Forum with some saying there is no advance on any of the three tune levels. As GM will allow the LS2 to run on 87 octane, I assume the factory settings are convervative and you compensate for this. Is that correct?
Thanx,
Mike
Vette fuse pull
RE: Vette fuse pull
The only fuse you need to pull is the one for the navigation screen (if you have that), that fuse box is behind the passenger foot well.
The 06-07 corvette tuning is quite different from the 05's, GM optimized the spark curve for good quality premium fuel and rely on the ultra sensitive knock sensors to reduce timing if any knock is detected. So they where not conservative at all with the timing they just rely on the knock system to take care of the bad fuels out there, which works awesome btw. We did gain the power by leaning the tune out.

RE: Vette fuse pull
Thanks for the response. I really like this forum, very helpful to a newbie with respect to tuning. I do have a very efficient CAI, but have low density altitude here in Colorado Springs--Schriever AFB, which is at almost 7000'. So, I am guessing leaning the tune will be particularly helpful--i.e., getting more air at high altitude. Also, won't eliminating TM enhance throttle response? That is the only area I see a need for improvement in. Once you get into it, the Corvette is very fast--4.1 0-60 (at sealevel, of course) and 9.8 0-100, but it seems there is a delay off the line unless you hit it hard. I'm hoping the Predator tune will improve that.
