F-250 Standard Trans Tune

I have a 99 F-250 with standard trans. I went in last year to buy a new tuner. But the standard options in the tuner did not allow for the standard trans. The guy could not download the new options. What I guess I what wanted to know is if I buy a unit online can I download a tune that will work with my standard trans. And I guess without a pyrometer And then how far after I add one. I have heard 1600 deg is as far as I want to push the exhaust temps. I tow and will be adding a pyrometer later, but need to put the money aside for that also.

The standard transmissions are supported... 1600 on the manifold is baout all you want to see. Just use the tow tune and you'll be fine.
