Just installed u7194 - Need Help

Post by Brad0Walker »

I just installed the diablo "performance tune" and am using 93 octane and i have noticed some decent gains coupled with the CAI. It still seems sluggish at WOT and does not want to downshift quickly, also seems a little sluggish from dead stop on WOT. I think this is the torque management. I did not see parameters to turn off portions of the TM and am wondering how this is possible. I have heard that you can do this with the predator. I have not logged and adjusted yet and am hoping that will help when i have time to do it, but i would like to turn of the TM. Thanks for helping out a newbie.

The TCM support is what i would need to be able to turn off torque management? It seems like it is not letting my truck go like it should.

yeah, most of the TM is reduced on the engine side, but there is still some on the tranny side that we can't get to yet...

however, there are still a bunch of tweaks that are able to be done in a custom tune to improve the trucks a lot - to get more power/torque to the wheels quicker, and better response...

just ask canuckpredator, GrumpyAeroGuy, dxb_escalade, dschev1, just to name a few, on how they like their custom tunes and the difference it made... ;)

I dont want all of it turned off, just about 75-80%. I didnt see any paramerters relating to this. I know not every truck is the same, but if any of you with the NBS chevy 5.3's could shed some light on what few things i can tweak, i would greatly appreciate it. I plan on doing some data logging next week, maybe this weekend to see what i can improve. I know about messing with the LTFT's but is there anything else that is worth fooling around with?

as was mentioned, most of it is already reduced in the tune on the engine side... and there's no TCM support so no tranny stuff can be done yet...

and you can't adjust anything relating to TM via the handheld unit...

for the trucks, the performance tune is made for 91 octane, so if you use 93 octane gas in yours, after you get your LTFT's dialed in by adjusting your injector slope appropriately, you can try adjusting the timing a little - but, that timing adjustment is only for WOT... so to really get all you can out of it, you'd need to get a custom tune created for ya so that the part-throttle timing can be adjusted for it as well.

and you'd need to get a custom tune created for all the other tweaks that can be done on the engine side, as far as getting more power to the wheels, better/quicker response, etc etc...

06MonteSS, I'm having the same "issues" as the OP but with a 09 4.8L V8. Just ordered a Volant CAI and mass airflow sensor...could I get some info on this custom tune too?

don't change the MAF... you'll only introduce more problems with your performance and tune..

stock MAF's are good for up to 500hp, which you're not going to make anyway... leave the stocker on, you'll be glad you did. The MAF isn't the issue.
