delta chip help ford 7.3 im so horny

i just bought a used ford 1999 f250 with the 7.3 diesel... in the console was the delta chip(im so horny) and its red.. the last owner said they pulled it out to do some work on the truck.. and i reinstalled this chip this am.. drove about 100 miles today and as im just getting home i remembered that this could be switched on the fly from red to green... the truck lost all power and then died as i was crossing an intersection.. do i pulled out the delta chip and its running fine again... called the old owner and he said he had that issue , that's why it was brought to a shop and they removed the chip.. so is this chip junk?can it be fixed? should i buy a new one or fix this thing..

sounds like it may have a bad program on the second position, id either use just the one position, or have it reflashed at one of our dealers.
