power supply option

i am in need of powering up my predator. i have heard much about 12vdc 1A. center pin is positive. what paramaters can you safeley power up without causing damage and/or functionality issues. i have a radio shack 13.8vdc 10 amp regulated power supply. i used to use for working on cb radios years ago. can it be used, if not what options are out there.

No, 10 amps is way too much.

Needs to be between .9 and 12 V and between 600 and 1000 ma.
