Married Predator question

Post by MTL300C »

Hello, I'm new here and was just wondering. I bought a used Predator off a guy and it tells me its still married to another VIN. My promblem is, is there any way to unlock it since the guy is in the US and I'm in Canada and I really don't want to send it back to the guy and wait for him to send him back. Besides, the guy said he sold the car! What are my options?

You can call Diablo support, and for a fee, they will unlock it for you over the phone.

That much? Yeah, that much. They gotta make what you screwed them out of by buying used, plus cover the Tech Support, Updates and everything else non-original owners aren't supposed to get..

I think it's more of a compromise right? They're selling the software (tunes) and the tool. So you're buying the "license" to use it on a second car for $129. You can get free softwar support here but I don't think he can get hardware support unless he can show a receipt from an authorized dealer.

So the guy in Canada most likely knew the tool was locked.
(He may have even listed it as such but probably not.)
Either his car is still tuned, or if he actually sold the car he probably used the fact that it was tuned as a selling point to enhance the price.
Always a decent chance that it's a stolen predator.

To the OP,
1) you could always contact the guy about returning it (haha)
2) file a dispute with your credit card company or paypal or whatever (don't let the dispute period expire).

OK Easy there. Wow, first time on the boards and this guy is trying to take my head off. It was just a question. If you can't say anything productive THEN DON'T SAY IT! Anyway, I'm in Canada and he's in the US. IF I pay the 129$US, I guess all updates, tech and all come back to me? I'm trying to get in contact with him on LX Forums but no luck so far... So who would I call to get this unlocked? How fast can it be done?

Oh you'd know if I was trying to take your head off. This wasn't it. Just ask around; I can be a real nice guy, or a complete asshole. You question what they charge for doing what is essentially a favor for you, the asshole come out.

You would have to clarify that with DS support (or maybe Mikel can answer that). All the updates are freely downloadable from the DS web site. Much of the tech support is handled right here and I don't think telephone support requires any sort of proof of purchase or anything. What you would want to know is what happens if the physical unit quits working. Usually that is handled by the authorized dealer/point of sale. I think unlocking it is a matter of minutes with support on the telephone once your payment clears?
