Just thought I would pass along some news that we have been hearing from numerous parts manufacturers over the past few weeks.
DPF Pickups and DPF medium duty trucks WILL BE subject to regular smog inspections.
The list of states that have or will have new testing processes in place are the following:
California, New York, New Jersey, Nevada, and Colorado.
The testing will include visual inspection, OBD2 inspection, and smoke measurements.
Furthermore, customer reports of state trooper inspections and hefty fines have been reported in the "red" states of TX, LA, FL, AL, and MO. Basically, if you got a new body style truck and spray smoke, you got probable cause to pull you over and take a look underneath.
Moral of the story is dont throw away your OEM DPF filter assemblies. They will be expensive to replace.
