I just got a South Bend Con OFE rated for 450hp. I made exactly that on the dyno a couple weekends ago and it does not slip at all even on the Extreme RKL tune. Ya, it's not cheap but no clutch is going to be cheap for these trucks...

my stock doesn't slip that I can tell but if I pound on it with any of the regular tunes it seems to lock in and when I push the clutch it doesnt want to go down, Iv'e got to relly push on the clutch pedel to get it to release.

madman, it sounds like you may be burning/melting the clutches together. You WILL have to get an aftermarket clutch if you run the higher tunes especially if you tow. I havent met anyone yet who could honestly resist the power  ........................

Ya, that's strange!!! It's hard to explain how a slipping clutch feels but it's definitely not like that!! Pony up man and get it........;)

That is exactly what mine does....If I push it.Then i put on the 19.5 with 35's on the truck and tow 20K...it even does it on the TOW mode now...
YES IT IS a must.I just wanted to hear if there was a better one than South Bend out there?

I sell motorcycle parts and clutches and think i will become a South Bend dealer.....
We all need one if you have a stick.....and 10% off to all members sounds good to me how about you guys?

I found a guy who spent $2300.oo installed that's just WRONG!!!

The SB Con OFE seems to have a bit of grabbiness on take off.For the first 2k miles. From what i have heard anyway.

Yes it is a bit grabby upon take-off but you get used to it. You also need the solid flywheel and upgraded hydraulics. I got mine done for a lot less then $2300.00!!! Wow!!
Anyways, I also get some vibration from the solid flywheel but it's not bad at all. Just a bit more than the dual Mass flywheel but I was expecting that. If I get tired of it I'll shell out for a Fluid-damper but I don't think I'll reach that point....
The OFE is the lightest duty of the SB clutches. Get an FE or a DD and you will definitely feel some grabbiness and a stiff pedal....

ncyz1v, You should go ahead and get you one especially since you have the added mass of the 19.5's. The vibration is caused because the flywheel being solid it cant absorb the vibs the clutch causes when its being "grabby". It wont be that bad and besides you nobody else would probably notice it that much.

Which one though???? OFE or DD....South bend said the DD would not jerk as much as the OFE....but I realy do not know???
List ofe 1000.00
List DD 1900.00
+ 250 to upgrade clutch master cyclinder!

I just want to get the right one the first time!

I say if you plan to use just the predator/puck with and occasional use of the rkl's i would go with the SBC OFE and save a little $$, if you think you will one day get into heavier mods i would definately go with at least a SBC FE if not the street version of the SBC DD. I personally am not a fan of the OFE (1 organic/1 feramic) style i like the FE (full feramic), like you stated "do it right the first time". Just my $.02. Try and get with Dodgezilla as his current is a manual and i believe his last truck was too.

My last truck was an auto and it had a DTT trans in it. You are right about everything else you said though ;). I know a guy who had a DD in his 500+hp 05 and he ended up pulling it out and getting an FE. He hated that DD clutch!
I have not towed with the new clutch yet. It has around 700 miles on it now....
