question about vehicle update.
So I don't have a tuner yet, but will be getting one. I am wondering though that when you get the error message (as described in the sticky above) about "This vehicle needs an update", what exactly is it updating? Is it updating the PCM to the newest version? TCM? Or is it something completely different? Thanks!

RE: question about vehicle update.
Yes, that means the PCM in the vehicle needs to be updated.

THanks, so the Predator can update the PCM, can it do the TCM as well, or is that not needed?

No, we do not talk to the TCM currently.

Oh ok. I guess shift points and shift firmness must be handled by the PCM then? Weird, cause a Mopar Performance TCM will change shift firmness and shift points, but it must communicate that to the PCM I guess. I figured that was all handled by the TCM. Thanks!
RE: question about vehicle update.
Sorry, I just have one more question.
I know the dealer procedure for updating the PCM, it involves doing things like hooking up a battery charger to the car and ensuring its reading 13.x volts (can't remember the exact number), which I'm assuming is done so that your battery doesn't die partway through an update and brick a PCM. How come you don't list any such disclaimers to warnings before performing a procedure that could potentially brick your car if something were you happen and you lose power partway through? Thanks!
