Corvette 2007 Z06 running much too lean

Post by TommyKoot »

Hi,

After a diagnostic run, which gave the trouble codes ltft 1 and 2 too lean, I found out that my car is running way too lean.
Over here in Holland, Europe, it's hard to find experts for a 2007 Z06.
I installed WCC headers and a Hurricane cold air intake. Is it possible to send my data to someone who can write a custom tune for my car, that I can upload into my Vette?

I am afraid of ruining my engine. And you don't want to know what a Z06 costs in Holland....:-(

Thanks for any help!!

Running too lean could mean air leaks. A tune won't fix that. Your O2 sensors are reading too much oxygen in the closed loop system.

Recheck you intake install and make sure everything is tight. Air leaks after the MAF can throw the PCM calculations off because more air is getting in than what the MAF is telling it. I'm not familiar with the Hurricane setup so I can't help with where to look first. You can spray starter fluid wherever there's a seam or clamp. If the RPMs increase, that's where the leak is.

Look for loose, unplugged, or cracked hoses connected to the intake manifold.

Check/tighten/retighten everything on the headers and anything near the O2 sensors. Air gaps in the exhaust system, especially near the sensors, will cause the sensors to read lean.

those trouble codes are typical for your setup, with the headers and that CAI...

I can do a custom tune for you to fix that, and get you more performance...

Here's info about my custom tuning:

http://www.diablewtune.com/

there are links on there to all the info and apps you'll need - i.e. what files I need, how to export/import tune files, how to do a data log correctly, and what parameters to data log, my paypal info, etc etc... as well as a link to a small sample of just some of the "Testimonials" I've received from people I've done my tunes for - makes for good reading, hehe.

I stand corrected.

Lew knows his stuff better than I. He'll set you up. I've heard nothing but praise about his tunes.

Ive been having the same problem on my 07 z06. I just installed Kooks Longtubes with catted x. I have borlas out the back. I installed the Diablo header tune. With the Hurricane installed I get the Lean codes in both banks. With the stock airbox, no lean codes. I think I will be utilizing Lew for a custom tune.

I just need to buy a R-232C to USB connection to pull the stock tune // current Diablo header tune and the logs.

Quick question did all U1974 come with a Diablo tune and a diablo header tune? I bought this handheld used and dunno if the previous owner called their custom tune 'diablo header tune'

Also seems like the tuner needs an update its runnin v9r01.

Isn't the goal of your setup to get more air in and more (exhausted) air out. So requiring more fuel to compensate for the additional
air intake, is it not possible the greater air intake it is getting, is greater than the stock MAF can compensate for?

I installed the LG Motorsports CF CAI and got the same code, I had to go in and adjust the fuel injector slope.

I use the Dslogger program offered on this website to dial it in. It took a couple of runs and adjustments but when I was done it was running perfect with no codes and I felt like i understood how my tuning is done these day!

no, that is an old revision... there are no more "header" tunes.... since you need to get a custom tune done anyway for headers, they removed the header tunes...

I'd update it... make sure you restore original backup to the car first!

nope... stock MAF is more than enough... those suckers are good for 550+ hp...

no need to get an aftermarket MAF...

issue is just like you discovered, you have to get the fueling adjusted correctly for the mods...
