I was reading on some of the forums that the switch positions as called out in the manual were incorrect. One said that the 90hp was on the side of the notch and the 50hp was on the oposite and the 0hp setting was in the middle, the other said that 90hp was on the notch side, the 50hp in the middle and the 0hp was oposite the 90hp.
Can someone confirm which is correct. I don't want to be running what I think is the is the puck of position runnnig the standard programmer tunes and damaging something.
This would also shed soomelight on why people are getting higher hp numbers with the programmer only loads versus the stacked loads.

Hey Rick, bhuntt,
I have an '06 Cummins and I'm thinking about the PowerPuck. Can you guys give me an idea about the performance increase and more importantly about the mileage increase?
I towed my 10,000 lb. toy hauler for the first time last weekend and only got 10 MPG. I'm hoping to increase that. And, the extra power would be nice too.
Thanks,
Stuart

RE: Fuel Economy
For mileage increases the Predator is the way to go.
Mileage will likely be unaffected with the Puck.
Thanks

RE: Fuel Economy
Hey Stu, I can verify that mileage won't increase. At least mine didn't!
The power on the higher setting is very noticeable. I tow daily, but only around 4000# It surely helps pulling out in traffic.
I do have a high flow air box and full gauges.
The EGT will get up there so be careful! I am going to add a better flowing exhaust and then a predator.
Truck gets around 14mpg towing in town and about 18 mpg not towing at 80+ mph on hiway.
Only 20,000 miles, so hopefullly mileage will get a little better with age!
Good luck and feel free to ask any questions you may have, I'll try and help.
AND!! THANK YOU for your service to our country!

RE: Fuel Economy
I have a travel trailer which weighs in at 11,500,lbs loaded and the power added from the puck/predator combo is amazing. It really livened up the towing capabilities of the truck. The puck alone was pretty good but the benefits of the stacked combo is far superior. It now requires much less pedal input to get things moving. The gas mileage you are gettig is very similar to what I am seeing 10-11mpg......which after previously towing with a V-10 Ford Excursion only getting 6mpg is a huge increase......this and the motor is not broken in yet.
The one thing I have noticed is that with the puck only the EGTs seem to get up there (1200-1300) climbing a hill or into the gas for a long period, but when I am running the predator downloads (stacked or not) the EGTs are 1100-1200 degress, which is about the same as I was getting stock. This is in the performance tunes as well as the two tunes.
I have not gone any higher than the performance tune (with the stock tranny) and the power is incredible compared to stock and the truck parameters are all very reasonable.
My gas mileage I'd say is probably up 1-2mpg (hand calculated), but the hard part is keeping your foot out of it as it is so impressive. I don't see much gas mileage difference on the interstate above 75mph as the rpm's on the truck are up above 2000 at that point.
I do have intake and exhaust mods which help keep the temperatures down and I highly recommend that, if you are towing heavy loads.
