fuel effency tune for '07 VortecMax

Post by hm3tocapt »

I just bought an air intake for my NBS 2007 GMC Sierra with a VortecMax. Next month I will get the cat-back. I am very much interested in getting a programmer to round things out. Since my truck has active fuel management I was wondering if it were possible to tune the PMC in such a way as to allow the V4 mode to be used more often? Right now the truck only switches to V4 on flat road and cruse control. I really do believe the V4 has enough juice to be used more often that what it does from factory. What about a tune that allows V4 when idling?

I know you guys can make a fast tune but can you make a fast tune that also allows better mpg? I want my cake and eat it too............

thanks

The tune provided should actually improve the mpg by 1-2mpg when driven sanely on the highway.
Have you tried the tunes from the Predator yet?

FWIW, in the LS4 applications (Monte Carlo SS, Impala SS) we disable the DOD in the tunes and STILL see an average of 2mpg gains over the stock tune.

I I don't see the point in outright disabling the AFM, the point is to save fuel in low load situations. I asked the question in order to feel better about buying a diablo tuner. Right now it is between the superchips flashpaq and the diablo.

I was just pointing out that we have seen solid gains in mpg while disabling the AFM, so you should see good gains with it left enabled.

Ok, I guess I am game.

Correct part number for 2007 GMC Sierra 1500 new body style with the 6.0L VortecMax with active fuel management?

7192 or 7194?

Thanks!
