Predator Tune - 2004 Corvette

Post by Scorpion »

New guy here!

2004 Corvette, A4 Transmission, Blackwing Intake, Magnaflow Exhaust w/X-Pipe

Really really anxious to get my new Predator and start getting more performance from my Corvette.

Ordered my Predator U7193 / U7778 from an Auto Accessory online retailer but do not have any idea when it will ship. Does it drop ship from Diablosport in Florida? I can't get a response from their customer service or order status departments. That sucks! :x I ordered from them because of Free Shipping and 1-Year Lower Price Guarantee.

Anyway here's my real question:

What changes to my factory tune will the "Diablo Tune" do?

I know it will gently adjust fuel trims and timing but will it also adjust my "shift points", "AT firmness", "cooling fan temps", etc...? or do I have to manually adjust those parameters?

How much more would I gain from a CMR "custom tune" later based on my mods?

Thanks

Shift firmness is increased a bit, shift points are not changed in the canned tunes.
You can play with shift firmness to set it how you like it and bump the shift points a bit if you desire as well.

mikel, Thanks for the quick reply. I plan to start with the stock Diablo Tune but I may want to do some tweaking as well.
Where can I find suggested settings for the mods I have on my car?

you can't...

after you install the tune, put on about 100 miles... it will take that much to get the pcm to relearn everything and for the fuel trims to settle in...

then, record a data log, to see where your average long term fuel trims (ltft's) are at.. and adjust your fueling (injector slope) accordingly...

there is a sticky about how to do the data logging, what parameters you need to select to data log, etc...

Thanks! I'll probably try this but really want to go for a Diablew tune from you. I read great things about that tune.
Please bear with me as this is all so new to me but want to learn.

cool man, sounds good! :)

hahaha np... better to take it a little slow at first and learn, than to just rush it and mess something up ;)

Is there something different with my 2004 Vette that does not allow anything to be adjusted? I have this in another post, and was told via email months ago there was an update coming out... is this just an issue with some C5 Vette's? I REALLY would like to be able to use the Predator. :) Please can anyone let me know what the deal is. Is there an update? Do I need to do something different? Thank you all for any response! I would like to get a custom tune but without the tuner working correctly to begin with... What can I do?

If you choose a different trans type than you have in the car, does it show you the parameters?

I changed the trans type to 'Manual" and then the parameters for changing the Diablosport tune can be seen... The parameters listed are for the manual trans, ie.. CAGS, limiter, along with others like cooling fans adjust, etc... I went into options again and changed it back to Automatic and it gives me the error of 'not available for this engine/trans combo'... Any ideas from here? :)

Thank you very much for any assistance!

Finally loaded my Performance Tune in my 2004 Corvette. Everything went very well as expected. I turned off the Torque Management and tweaked the other "Shift" settings as well.

Already feel a pretty good performance increase.

Now I'm planning to put on a 100 miles or so then start my logging for adjusting the LTFT.

Getting ready for the Custom Tune too.

Lew,

After doing a bit of online research, the stock "Diablo Tune" already does the performance parameters in the "WOT Shift Points".

I need to adjust the "Shift Speeds", "Torque Management", "WOT Shift Pressures" and "Part Throttle Shift Pressures" to my personal liking.

Is this a true statement?

Any other recommendations?

Thanks!

Have you gotten an answer yet?
If not, have you tried reinstalling the stock tune and starting over?
Who told you it would be a good idea to set the tranny to manual if you don't have one? Just wondering...

I'm not having any issues with my install. Everything works as expected.

Just asking Lew for some clarification.

Thank you.

the canned preset diablo performance tunes already make some basic settings/adjustments to the torque management, the shift pressure and shift speed...

the tunes do NOT change shift points at all....

if you want the shift points changed, you have to do that yourself....

for the shift pressure/firmness and shift speed... you can adjust those some more yourself as well if you want it different than how the tune already has it set... there's no wrong or right setting - its however you like the feel of it...
