Need help with Trinity asap!!!

Post by sturtzy75 »

Well...i have a 2007 Mustang GT that was tuned with a Predator PC7140 when I bought it. Car has always ran excellent and made great power. Car has a Procharger and makes 10psi.

I decided to switch to a Trinity and am having all kinds of issues. I saved my custom tune from the Predator to my laptop and returned the car to the original tune in order to reset the Predator for resale. Today I put the custom tune onto my Trinity and loaded it in the car and all went well til I tried to start the car. It cranks very hard like the timing is extremely advanced and when it starts it chugs a bit and dies. It is extremely rich as well. Smokes/stinks up the garage with raw fuel almost instantly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have my tune file that I can send to any knowledgable tuners here to look at and atleast lemme know if something is bad in the tune somehow.

Again..the car has ran flawlessly on this tune until I loaded it with the trinity.

MAybe some settings in the Trinity I am not aware of changing my custom tune??

Thanks

The problem here is the custom tune for the Predator needs to be re written for the Trinity... either contact the CMR tuner that wrote the tune for you and explain your delima or wait till Monday for the Diablo Crew to return.

For now return the trinty and car backto stock and use your predator if you still have it until you can get your custom tune updated for the trinity

I kinda thought that it may be an issue going from the Predator to the Trinity.

Thanks

NP... either way you get the new tune you will require the TRINITY ORIGINAL BACKUP and possibly the Last tune written and a copy of your Custom tune for anyone to fix for you.

I restored the original tune on the Trinity and tried to reinstall my custom tune with the Predator. I can load the Procharger tunes but if I try to install my custom tune it tells me there is a VIN mismatch....WTF??

Any ideas Ill?

Was the car or Predator updated since you last used the custom tune?
If not are you using the same Predator tune first installed proir to making your custom tune and then install the custom tune.( the tune you gave the tuner, LTW and original backup for them to make you the custom tune)

I got my Trinity yesterday, hooked my Predator up to my laptop and saved my original back up and my custom tune. I hooked the Predator up to the car and restored the original tune to the car to unmarry it to be sold later. I messed with the Trinity trying to get my Predator tune on the car with no success as stated earlier. I then hooked my Predator up to my laptop and sent the custom tune back to it and I get a VIN mismatch error when I try to reload the custom tune.

The Trinity will install the custom tune but the car starts and dies immediately.

The Predator will not reinstall the custom tune at all as it says VIN mismatch.

The custom tune was done by a well known tuner in New Jersey for the previous owner and was near perfect. Car had been on the dyno numerous times prior to me buying it to have the tune refined and nothing has changed on the car or the tuner.

I understand why the Trinity won't work but can't see why the Predator won't let me put the custom tune back in. It lets me install either of the preloaded Procharger tunes fine, but gives the VIN mismatch message as soon as I try to install it on the car.

Bout to give up!!

Somethings out of wack...sorry to be of little help, it is up to Diablo or a CMR tuner from here maybe someone will chime in sooner than later.

This original backup file came from which unit and is it the most current or an earlier one you had saved on your PC

The original came off of the Predator. It is the original backup that was on the tool when I purchased the car in November. I have not touched it since buying the car until now.

Messed with the car a bit again today and have more info. When I reset the Predator and then send my custom tune to it, I do not get the option to compare it to the original. DSDL says the tune was successfully loaded but I doubt that is the case based on the results. I assume this plays a part in the VIN mismatch. As soon as I select Performance tune the tool tries to put the custom tune in without giving me an option to install tune. This is shortly followed by the VIN mismatch message.

The Trinity will actually load the custom tune in the car but it fires and dies immediately I assume because there is a difference in the Predator and Trinity files.

The PC7140 is running the 9r02 crom and I think the Trinity came with the 1r08 but I will have to double check that when I get back out the shop.

I guess the wait is on for the pros to come in on Monday.

Thanks

Ok..back at it again.

I also have a U8000 that is set up as a 7145. I put the 87 octane tune from it on my car saving an original to the tool. Then added my custom tune. The DSDL did NOT ask me for an original to compare with just like the PC7140 mentioned above. I was however able to successfully send it to te tuner.

It did load the custom tune to the car just like the Trinity but it runs like ass. Extremely rich and keeps dying. The last written tune shows the custom tune I added above bit there is no way that is correct as it barely runs.

So in summation...the PC7140 gives a VIN mismatch when I load the custom tune. The Trinity and 7145(u8000)load the custom tune but it runs equally shitty either way. NONE of the three tuners ask for an original to compare the custom tune to...they just say it was successfully sent to the tuner.

This is alot of info I know but I am really frustrated and in need of a solution. I have 3 tuners and can't get my car to run right with a tune that was nothing short of perfect with my car prior to trying the Trinity.

Hopefully one of you on the Diablo team can help me out in the morning.

If you need anzy more info just ask as I will be watching all day tomorrow for a response.

Thanks

so, this 'custom tune' you refer to, is it just a copy of the last tune written from the Predator?

If so, please do this:

post only the tune you want to load to the trinity, and a copy of the original backup from the Trinity.

Pretty new to this stuff so just to dbl check.

What I copied to my computer was the last tune written which also happened to be my custom tune. Did I perhaps mess up and not get the full tune onto my computer?

Also, to get the original off of the Trinity just load any Trinity tune to the car and the Trinity will load the original. Then get the original From the Trinity onto the laptop?

Thanks
