New to the Forum. Silverado 4.8 Question

Post by HostageZ71 »

Just purchased my first Diablo Tuner for my 2009 silverado 4.8 4x4 Z71 4 door. Currently, I have installed dual Flowmasters and a K&N Air Intake. I also have a McGaughy's 7" lift thats running on 35 AT's. I am looking to tune my Predator to:

A.) Get better fuel mileage...then change to
B.) Get better horse power when I pull a heavy 16ft enclosed trailer from Florida to California in April.

I don't want to program the wong information. Any assistance/tips on how to tune would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Darrryl

You may want to look into getting a custom tune. Really not much we can do on our own with the handheld.

Lew (Diablew/06MonteSS) is tuning my 5.3 with great results. Shoot him a PM he's not hard to find in the posts here, he can gave you a performance tune that gets better mileage, I'm up about 1 mpg.

hahaha...

A) Better fuel mileage, with a 4.8.. that has a 7" lift and 35" wheels/tires? haha...

better mileage than what, stock? will never happen... better mileage than you're currently getting, maybe or maybe not....

none of the things you have are conducive to good mileage man, heh...

k, Butthead...

you'll get more power than you have now, but you gotta remember, it's only a 4.8... and it's a 4.8 with a big lift and huge-ass tires - it's not going to be winning any races...

with a custom tune done for it, you'll gain the most you can... better/quicker throttle response and acceleration, stronger/harder pull, more hp/tq, etc....

Hostage, is that calculated or from your DIC? My DIC is usually off by .8-1.5 mpg high from actually. I am getting about .5-.8 mpg better over my stock average though.
