Idea for the 2011+ tunning issue!
Ok i know this may sound a bit out there but hear me out. Ok we all know that B&G is flashing 2009-10 PCM's for folks with 2011+ vehicles they simply flash it with the vin of the 2011 vehicle it is going on. Now, what if Diablo just made a tuner with a list of the 2011 vin's along with the tunes that you already use? Would this work to tune a PCM that has been flashed with a new vin and is this something that Diablo could do to get past the current issue that is plagueing the entire Mopar community?

not sure what you mean...if the PCM is changed to a 2010 PCM, it is tuneable with our devices.

Well the pcm is a 2010 pcm but for it to work with the vehicle it must have it's VIN flashed to the new 2010-09 PCM at least thats what ive been told. And if you were to try to hook up a predator to it would not recognize the vin because its not on the list and wont marry.

Now if you guys come up with a way to flash and sell a 2010-09 PCMs with a customers vin on it along with a predator with the 2011 vin list on it so it will marry to the pcm that would alow them to tune it. It's alot of work but at this point it seems like you are out of options unless you have an ACE in the hole somewhere...

I'm not following your question, but let me make it simple, everyone that is swapping 09-10 PCMs into 11 Jeeps is using our tools to tune them after the swap

no, it means that we aren't going to sell a product to the public that requires them replacing their computer. We have never done that in the past and we don't plan to start. There are other companies already doing this. We plan to actually tune these vehicles with their factory computers and factory software.
No, i don't work here.

not sure what B&G is doing with the 2011 rams but
on the 2011 + jeep jk's what is being done is a 2010 pcm is purchased the vin is programed, NOT SKIM> unless vehicle is present. and then it just works and allows tuning. However with this the customer looses cruise as the switch resistance is different and not configured on the steering wheel the same.
but for the rams this is not the case something special has to be done for the transmissions or sometype of relearn procedure has to be done on the new pcm in order for the trans to shift as it should.

What if you guys never get the code cracked and dodge never releases the codes to you. What extremes are you willing to go to for consumers? Anything is better than waiting for a miracle.
I sure hope things work out in your favor ie: Chrysler just handing over the codes.
A good saying that everyone knows is you can spit in one and and wish in the other and see which one fills up faster.

I guess i dont know how to say it any simpler ill try to brake it down a bit better.mikel wrote:I'm not following your question, but let me make it simple, everyone that is swapping 09-10 PCMs into 11 Jeeps is using our tools to tune them after the swap
For RAM's 2011 and newer when doing an older pcm swap IE: 2009-10 RAM pcm, The older 2009-2010 pcm must be flashed with the 2011 or newer Vehicle Idendification Number essentially they replace the older pcm's vin with the recipiant vehicles vin.
Ok here is what im trying to get at. The tuners that you currently have in stock do not have the 2011 or newer Ram VIN's listed in them.
So, the tuners you currently have in stock will not marry to the unencrypted 2009-10 doner pcm because the VIN has been replaced with a the recipiant trucks VIN.
If you were to simply ADD all of the 2011 and newer VIN's to the tuners that you have in stock it would allow folks to buy a B&G Flashed PCM and be able to Tune it with all of the current tuners you have in stock.
Doing this will increase your sales and allow people a way to tune their trucks. And all you guys have to do is add the 2011 and newer VIN's to the list!
You are going to have to ad the VIN's in the future anyways so why not just do it now just add them what could it hurt?
RE: Re: RE: Idea for the 2011+ tunning issue!
The tuners don't have VINs in them. They just marry based on the VIN they read on the PCM. As long as the PCM thats going in has a supported CalID, they'll work, no matter what the VIN is.

I don't know about the original idea but I have an idea that probably has already been mulled over by you guys and that is the following.
The new PCM's more or less follow a similar architecture to the previous GPEC PCM's they just have a higher level of encryption than the older computers. My suggestion is reverse engineer and develop a chip that is programmable. Then you can base you tunes and vehicle function programming on the 2010 models, since that data on the 2011's is encrypted. APR has to resort to something similar on some VW and Audi models, and out of necessity I have to replace PROMS on my Grand National. If you can't flash it...chip it! If you run into legal issues then come up with your own chip with your own proprietary technology.
There are other functions besides tunes I need out of a tool, I need to be able to chain pinion factors, shift points, etc....the TCM is confirmed to be unencrypted. I took my TCM, installed it on a 2008 Chrysler 300c and used a predator to change its settings, then installed it on my car. can you guys at least open up that functionality on the tool, or is the PCM the middleman on that function?

RE: Re: RE: Idea for the 2011+ tunning issue!
Can't really chip the newer PCMs. The PROMs are soldered to the boards and there are tons of them. Not as easy as with the older computers. Take a look inside the GN's computer, then look in the 300's. Totally different, way more complex.
