2006 Corvette No Chirp with A6

Post by anthonym »

hi, looking for comments and opinions. my 2006 corvette A6 automatic is bone stock and could NOT chirp the wheels form the 1-2 shift.

I was hoping that with the 93 tune and TCM firm tune that even a stock C6 could chirp'em, but still NO chirp..... I'm sad :( :( :(

I have dunlap firehawk run flats with 32lbs. from a dead stop, traction control off, tranny in "S" mode and then mash it not to much spin at all, seems to hook up pretty good, winds out good and shifts just right, but man it seems to me that a vette should chirp them there wheels.

i hade C4 with a automatice. i added a shift kit and that old bugger would put down a 4in black chirp mark on the road every time.

Have you increased the firmness for the firm TCM tune for WOT? If that doesn't work for you start with the hard and go from there. You can reduce it for normal driving and keep it the same for WOT or add more or less depending on what you get. I have a 5.3 crew cab Sierra and it chirps 2nd just fine, even before TCM support was added (less HP and a lighter rear end though). With Lew's adjustments to the TCM tuning it actually shakes my hood when it shifts into second, which is a feat with a solid from truck.

Do you have the 2.56 rear end? Or the 2.73? The 2.56s will kill any performance the car had. If those are what you have 3.42s or 3.73s will wake the car up immensely.

is a z51... i have not tried hard yet. you wrote

"increased the firmness for the firm TCM tune for WOT". i did not no that the TCM turn also had ajustments. I thought I only hade 2 choices "firm or hard"

how do you access them?

there is just not enought user information on this units features. wish they updated the units user guide with more information on how to use features.

After you pick your tune for the ECU ( 87, 91, Diablo, etc.) it will ask for the shift on the TCM pick "firm or hard". After that it will save stock and then it will say "Modify Tune ECU" then click green check if you want to change something if not click red X. It will then write your tune to the ECU. Then it will ask to "Modify TCM Tune" click green check mark and you can adjust your shifts ( 1-2, 2-3, 3-4 and WOT) after that click green check marker then it will write TCM tune. Then follow the on screen and then go take it for a spin.
