U7164 Won't Connect to DS downloader

U7164 won't link up to program. Have tried USB and Serial cables and all drivers are working and cables work fine. Is this one fried?

what is the revision on the tool?

9R15 is whats on it now. Have tried 2 computers one with serial and XP and another with Win 7 and USB to serial. DS shows the right com ports when searching for tool but never connects

Check the device manager to see if the cable is showing up as a com port.

Yes it shows as com 4 as a prolific usb device ans says working properly

maybe the cable is bad?

It is very rare that the tool just does not communicate...

well I know my serial cable is good cause i use it and the computer with XP to update another type of box. it;s a mystery

feel free to give us a call with it all hooked up to the PC, my guys will gladly run through it with you, or remote in and see whats going on if needed.
