Installing U7194 in 2007 Silverado 5.3... Should I wait....

Post by robby5323 »

My new U7194 should arrive tomorrow afternoon for my new body style 2007 5.3 silverado. Should I go ahead and install the tune, or will the update for the TCM be coming out in the next few days? I really hope I can download the updates and get it taken care of in one session....

 ....

go ahead and install the tune...

and you won't get it done in one session anyway... cuz if you want the best performance (especially with the truck), you'll be doing some data logging and adjusting the fueling to get it all dialed in...

06 Monte I am very interested in getting My 07 Chevy NBS 5.3 dialed in. I am a computer tech but not a car tech. If I data log all of the parameters on a u7194 until it is full will that be enough for you to analyze for me.

you don't want to log ALL the parameters... the only ones you want to select to log are:

air fuel ratio
commanded throttle position
engine speed
long term fuel trim bank 1
long term fuel trim bank 2
spark advance
total knock spark retard

make sure your truck is up to normal operating temps before doing any logs... drive for about 15 minutes and THEN start the log...

you should be able to get a lot for about 15-20 minutes... the screen will show you "log is full", or something like that.. just press the ESC button to get back to the main screen, then you can unplug the predator...

p.s. - I'm a computer guy too - build my own systems, I'm a Senior Web Developer by profession... and only got really "into" cars since I bought my Monte SS 2 years ago... and once you get into this, it's not that bad... don't be scared... ;)
