lost original tune

Post by Neogenesis »

Have had the intune since April 2012 (2010 Chrysler 300 touring 3.5L with 4speed transmission). After a few issues getting it going initially, I settled on the 89 tune with some adjusted parameters (throttle position sensor, fans, etc) Pretty much no changes made since early fall. Thought I was going to have to take car in for some warranty work the other day, so went to restore original tune and it went into recovery mode. 2 days later, plug it into computer and it auto updates and no longer says its in recovery mode. Plug tuner into car and it wont identify vehicle (says no ECM identified) and then shows me the previous vehicle info (which has correct VIN for my car). Back out to write vehicle and it seems to identify ok. Starts backing up "original tune" and then tells me "ECM appears to have been tuned, no back up saved" and then exits. If I try to restore vehicle it just loops and does nothing. Even went into advanced settings to force original backup at which point it tells me that there is no original backup stored on device. Please tell me how I can restore my original tune. I believe I made a backup and am currently looking for it, but even if I load it on to the intune as a "custom tune" it appears that the unit won't write anything at all. If I can't find the copy of my original tune, is there a way to get a base tune back on the ECM? Should I delete the stored vehicle from the intune? I am attempting to add some pics and video.

PS - here is from the info folder in the intune (have no idea what that stuff means  )

plug it into a PC, let it download a cal update, flash that to the car, then it will read and save a new backup.

Mike, I did do that and it updated but kept telling me file is incompatible, reverting to last firmware. Subsequently, I manually upgraded the firmware to 1r01g. It will now see the ecu (on second attempt). When i plug into pc it tried to update to latest firmware goes through preparing and writing and then tells me fike incompatible reverting to last firmware (stays on g). If I try to restore vehicle (regular or forced) it tells me there is no backup available for my vin. I am afraid to write a performance tune at this point because I don't want to run into a glitch (absolutely can't be without my car at the moment). Gonna try to attach some more pics.

Will do mike, thanks. Now assuming it loads and everything gets to i appropriately, plug into vehicle and it recognizes it, is there gonna be a stock backup for me to revert to? I'm getting the sinking feeling there won't be and I'm scared it will take the current tune (89) and make that my "stock" tune. Just asking hypotheticals because I won't be able to do this til at least tonight or possibly a couple days from now.

as mentioned, it will prompt you to load a cal update, which is a factory file, and then it will save a new backup from that.

No worries.

Mike,

I uploaded new software and let intune download all manner of updates until auto updater told me there was no more. Plugged into vehicle and it identified appropriately, told me to plug into PC which I did and proceeded to download calibration update. Back out to vehicle and it went to install calibration update. Got to 99%, and asked to do a key cycle. Key off, press green check mark. Fine. Key on (no dash lights came on btw when i turned key on), pressed green check mark. Tool tells me "an error occured loading calibration tune." Dash lights then come back on. Tool recycles and is in recovery mode. Wants to only write calibration tune at this point. Tried about 5-6 times and exact same results. Went as far as removing key for key off. Also went to key on and waited over a minute for dash lights to come on (they never did) before hitting green check and still same results. Thankfully, the car turns over and appears to be idling fine (haven't taken it for a drive yet). Plugged intune into computer and auto updater says it is up to date. Please advise.

Minor update. Took my daughter to school this morning. Car runs and idles fine at about 600rpm. Acceleration feels funny - sluggish and pulsatile at times (but still drive able). And my check engine light is on. gonna take it by auto zone to see what codes they get. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I was under the impression that there is a built in code reader in the intune and Trinity. Your model dosen't have that?

@ unlimited06 - it does. The problem right now is its stuck in recovery mode and will only allow the write function (assuming until its able to "restore"/load the calibration tune.

OK, so autozone said it had code U141 which basically means the computer lost communication with BUS. Forgot about key cycle for codes and when I did that it showed 0141. Maybe just needed to reestablish communication? Light turned off before getting to auto zone and car seems to be driving OK.
