2012 dodge challenger 5.7 problem
2012 dodge challenger 5.7 problem
I just bought the dcx and I plugged it into my computer and downloaded all the updates. Everything was going good, untill iI tried to install one of the two tunes into my car, it asked me too turn of and then turn back on, I got the message " failure to write tune", then it went into recovery mode and tried to install original backup, it took 4 tries to get the original tune back on my car. I tried several times with different tunes, with the same result and the same spot it reads, failure to write tune. My car is a 2012 dodge challenger r/t 5.7 6 speed. I also tried it on my 2012 dodge ram and it worked fine, but I purchased this tuner for my challenger. Please someone help

Re: 2012 dodge challenger 5.7 problem
I'm having the same issue with my '12 Challenger RT. Unit is updated but will get the "Failed to Write" error intermittently anytime the unit is writing a tune (including restoring the backup). At this point the ignition becomes unresponsive and you must start the entire process over and hope it successfully writes the original backup on the first attempt.
Any progress on this issue DS?

Re: 2012 dodge challenger 5.7 problem
i am not sure if the new dodge's are like my 04 but make sure you have an absolutely perfect connection....i did the same thing in my JKU last week installing mine...i had to hop out at one point and my shoe barely pulled the connector out of the OBD port....my 04 Hemi was the same way with a Superchips...once i made sure all the points were solid it worked perfect. Good luck!

This is not my first tuner, I had a predator on many 09 challenger, and from what I have read, alot of 6 speed challengers are have trouble with the dcx. I'm hoping someone from Diablo sport is going to do this problem quickly.

Re: 2012 dodge challenger 5.7 problem
Using the key.
I've noticed that every time it fails to write, the small red light on the left side of the dash never goes out. This light will only come on when the intune is either reading or writing a tune and when it goes through successfully, the red light goes off right at 100%. I immediately know the read/write is going to fail when I see this red light stays on after 100%.
Hopefully this helps. We've had this issue since release and would really like to see it resolved!

Re: 2012 dodge challenger 5.7 problem
Sounds like we have the exact same problem, like I said it works just fine in my dodge ram. Its nothing i'm doing wrong, there some sort of glitch. Seemed when I was emailing tech support I got the feeling that's what they thought, and I'm still having the same issue, and I hope someone takes this problem seriously. I guess theres always the money back guarantee.
Re: 2012 dodge challenger 5.7 problem
i got this same issue, however, when it tells you to cyle the key off, click the green check and then do it. it gives you 5 or so seconds to do it. Same for turning key on. i clicked the check first then did the action while it was counting down. This fixed the issue for me.. also a 12 R/T

Re: 2012 dodge challenger 5.7 problem
This has no effect on the issue that I've experienced. Whether cycling on/off before or after hitting the check mark on the intune, I've had it fail to read/write the tune. The issue is intermittent and I've been unable to find a rhyme or reason as to what causes it.

I've been having this exact same issue for the last month as well. So far, no update or suggestion from the guys at DS has helped. It's frustrating, but I'm just glad to hear I'm not alone on this.

Re: 2012 dodge challenger 5.7 problem
On the 1 or 2 vehicles I have seen personally that did this, simply continuing with the key cycles brought it back to life and it was fine.
We are still investigating.
Thanks

I'm having the exact same issue. Will not write tune at all on a 2012 RT. I'm on hold now.

Re: 2012 dodge challenger 5.7 problem
I'm currently having a similar issue on a 2012 Challenger SRT8. It seemed to load the calibration update fine, but got hung at the key cycle and now is unresponsive. Any further attempts to re-load the update are unsuccessful and gives me the "ERROR READING MAP" message.
I do have the security screen up on the radio/nav display asking for a security code now, but I don't know if that is related. I'm hoping I can get this resolved tomorrow so we can give the car back to the customer.

Ok,
Heres an update. Vas helped me out yesterday after Mike had the comptuer fixed.
We found that when doing the key cycle you must wait a full 5-8 seconds before clicking the checkbox. Also, I went into the settings of the car itself and told it to immediately turn off power to everything when you turn the key off.
You can have it set so that you can run auxillary stuff like the radio etc after you turn the key off for up to 60 min. This seemed to help.
We disconnected the battery, reconnected, installed factory tune from backup and waited a few min. We again disconnected the battery, reconnected and wrote the 91 octane tune with MDS off. This worked great! make sure to give it plenty of time between key cycles.
Next we tried to adjust some other parameters such as throttle boost, and rev limiter. When we tried to write this tune, it crapped out putting us in the Key cycle loop and finally going into recovery mode. Reinstalled factory tune, repeated process and was able to load 91 octane tune with MDS off. Going to leave it at that until DS is able to work out a few kinks.
Anyway, as with any new product there are going to be some issues, but the guys here at DS have stood behind the product and gone out of their way to help make it right. Just be patient. I have no doubt we will be seeing some updates that fix these glitches.
