Ford ranger 2.3

Hello there everyone. I am a new user to this site's forums and got my inTune i1000 today from the local dealor. My truck is an 07 ford ranger 2.3 standard trans. Very slick little device and it fits in the palm of my hand perfectly. The 87 octane tune really woke up this little danger ranger and it gets great fuel economy better than it had before I started with a fair bit more power which is very nice. Very impressed and will recommend to others.

A couple of more "technical" questions I have regarding the setting your own parameters , first is what does it mean when I "advance" or "retard" my timing like it allows you to do with this tuner? Will it hurt my truck if it is adjusted? I'm looking for peak performance on both rpm ranges it shows (lower RPM and higher RPM) so I'm looking for advice on where i should set these without damaging my truck.

Also what does the "MAF Curve" setting do? Also looking for advice on whether or not I should touch it or not.

And last but not least, the fuel lean and rich settings for two rpm ranges. Any recommendations as to what I should set these at for best performance low rpm and high rpm without damaging my motor?

adding or removing timing is adjusting the spark advance at wide open throttle, best to not adjust this without a good reason :0
The MAF curve allows for global fueling adjustments, and again, is best left to pros or to base any changes there on extensive datalogging.

Okay thank you for the reply. i am having a lot of trouble updating or getting it to update to the latest firmware at all. i am running a mac but it doesnt open .exe files. is there any other way to update it without buying a different computer?
and i thought there would be at least a bit better page for updating then an 11 page thread that goes back to 2012 lol

That thread was started in 2012, but as the title indicates, it is updated with the latest releases regularly

save them to your mac, then drag/drop them to the intune drive one at a time.
