Cant connect trinity to pc

So I have wemt through the steps, installed the driver, and when I plug in the trinity my pc doesn't recognize it. I went into setting to try and manually install it and it isn't recognizing it anywhere. When I open DSdownloader it says " The DiabloSport Downloader is attempting to find a Trinity attached to your computer. If it does not connect after several minutes then click on the Help button above for advanced instructions." I deleted the driver, unplugged the tuner from the pc, turned off my virus protection, restarted the pc, restarted from step one and still nothing. I don't have another computer to try this on. Windows 8 home pc, meets requirements by a lot. What am I doing wrong?

download the latest version of the dsdownloader from the main site... it now includes windows 8 drivers...
