C6 Corvette A6

Post by Jruss »

I get about 1 1/2 minutes of logging on my U7194 and being the first time I have logged I'm not sure exactly what I'm looking at but Bank 2 fuel trim doesn't look good.
How do I upload my results so I can get your advice?
Thanks,
Jruss

Hey Jruss... went through your log...

your average ltft's for normal cruise/driving part throttle are: 3.86 and 2.11...

so I would suggest that you adjust your injector slope to -4%...

and leave the PE settings alone at their defaults of 0...

Thanks,
What do I want to see after I make the adjustment?
Also, how much time should the unit record when it is not connected to a laptop?

if you don't use a laptop, you will only get about a minute and a half of log time... for you, a laptop is a better way to go for logging (if you have one)...

you want to see the average ltfts around 0 to -2...

note: after adjusting the slope, you will need to drive for at least 30 miles to let the new adjustment settle in and time for the ltft's to be re-learned by the ECM... after 30+ miles, then do another log and let's see where the numbers are at.

06MonteSS,
Am I reading this right?
After I modify the Performance Tune I re-install it as a modified tune?

I DO NOT have to re-install the original factory tune and then install the modified tune?

Then if I need more mods, do I modify the modify tune or do I go back the original Performance tune and put in both sets of mods?

correct, you can just modify the tune and install it... you do NOT have to restore your original backup first...

once you make adjustments, the predator will remember what you changed - until you restore the backup, then it resets its tunes back to 0 on the adjustment sliders.

after you make changes once, and then you go back into it, you'll see asterisks next to the parameters you changed last time, and if you select them again, it'll show you what your adjustment was set to.

Thanks again, my confidence level is much higher using this unit then before I purchased it and I’m really starting to like it. The seat of the pants results so far is great and the ability for even more improvements is even better.
To me being able to make adjustments to real time data under normal operating conditions is as good as it gets.
In the years past I have paid for expensive Dyno tunes in a building knowing if I later made any change at all it was back to the Dyno again.
Plus the fact that from one Dyno to another or one operator to another you can get different results.

Today's Log

Made the adjustments and here is what I came up with today.
Looks like another-1% on the LTFT's.

Based upon your log yes, but, your RPM's are pretty low, do another run in a lower gear if you have a manual, or one of the other drives ( i dont have the auto so i dont know which ), to get your RPM's up.

Isn’t the LTFT’s supposed to be tweaked at normal cruise speed?
    Originally 50-55 mph was suggested.
For the most part if I obey the interstate speed limit and I seldom will see anything above 1500 with the A6 in 6th gear with the 2.56 rear axle.
1300+ is where it runs most of the time.

right, which is why you do it in a lower gear, so the rpm's are up higher and you're not lugging the engine causeing KR...

you can still stay at 55mph, just do it in 4th or 5th instead...

Obviously, I have a C6 as well. It's a M6, not a A6, but from experience I can tell you, low RPM's are NOT giving you the right data. I went back and forth for weeks, changing ltft slope, before i realized the low RPM's were giving me bad data. To be honest, the 1 1/2 minutes of logging was killing me as well, once I had a laptop running I could easily see how far off I really was, but that being said, I've found that anything over 2200 rpm is giving you the right data to make adjustments. What your adjusting to isn't much more than slightly over idle, and your not going to get it set right. You may think you have it set, but its not set properly.

These other cars are all in that range, the C6 is geared so low in the top gear at the speeds your setting it at, the instructions your reading to set the slope simply doesn't apply to your car, unless you get the RPM's up into the 2000's.
