93 octane Diablo Sport Tune?

Post by challenger01 »

New to this website and tuning my used 2008 Charger and have a few questions (be nice now):

I have updated my Diablo Sport Tuner and installed the 91 octane tune on my 2008 Charger w/5.7 hemi and have been really impressed with the results.

93 octane fuel is readily available in my location, but I can't find the 93 octane tune on the tuner.

Is this a custom tune that I must pay for, or am I missing something?

I have searched this web site and found only a comment made by another that the 93 octane tune was the Diablo tune. I loaded that tune with dismal results (91 octane tune was clearly the performance winner).

Thanks in advance for your help

I loaded that tune, didn't preform nearly as well as the 91 octane tune.

What octane gas is currently in your tank? And have you been running it for some time, or could it be mixed with lower octane fuel?

Ok. However, also need to consider difference in fuel brands, and even environmental conditions can play a factor. Take some logs and see if you have any knock retard going on with the Diablo tune.

Have you made any other changes, like leaning fuel during WOT (assuming no)? Using stock thermostat? Cold air induction kit?

What about it is less performance? Throttle response during acceleration? Steady wide open throttle acceleration measures slower?

This may give you some insight.

At the end of the day, you might just be better off running the 91 Octane tune. Sounds like the only difference between those tunes, is the timing. And if, for whatever reason, you're engine just can't tolerate that much timing with the 93 gas available, then so be it. The only other option would be octane booster.

Thank you for all the responses.

My car is all stock for now. The 91 octane is a significant improvement over no tune at all, but there is "surging" when I accelerate hard.

I then loaded the Diablo tune and the surging disapeared, but so did all the get up and go that I was enjoying so much. It seemed to run more like it was back to stock with no tune at all.

I will run some logs on both tunes and post them in the next few days.

I really appreciate the help here, thanks again for your insight and direction!
