CEL for rear O2 sensor bank 2

Post by epulleerr »

About 4 weeks ago now I got a CEL P2098 and P043 Bank 2/sensor 2. I checked and done all the things I could find online that states what could cause this code to pop up. New plugs, no exhaust/air leaks before sensor 1 or sensor 2, and I've even changed the rear O2 sensor twice now. Fuel pump/ fuel filter all good and I even had the dealer plug it to their computer to run a full diagnostic and they did not find any issues. The car runs fine and isn't having any issues.

I did located a small exhaust leak about 3 to 4 inches behind the rear O2 sensor. Not sure if this would cause the rear O2 to set off the CEL but took it to the exhaust shop and they are going to fix the leak.

Any one here know if the leak would throw the P2098/P0430 codes ?

I didn't think about it until today but the CEL came on about a week after installing the 93 octane tune from the predator U7135.

I'm the second owner and the original owner only put on high flow cats and 3 inch pipes. No CAI but he did have a predator tune on the car but I was unaware of this until I went to install the 93 tune. Had his tune removed and stock tune put back on then I out the 93 octane tune on.

Is it possible the O2 sensor is being thrown because of the tune I put on? I'm thinking the original owner might have had the rear O2's turned off maybe.

The exhaust shop called and said they'll have my car ready today and did not see any issues with the high flow cat and its working fine.

Last question, if I get a tune to turn off the rear O2's would this case any long term issues?

Thanks for any feedback.
Ed
