Got Torque Managemen!?!

Post by BlkWidowSS »

Camaro L99 Torque Management... It's what you've been missing! I've got a 2011 L99 with Cold Air Inductions CAI and Flowmaster Outlaw Axle Back. I've had the DS inTune for some time now and have been running the 93 Tune modified to disable DoD and to remove the speed limiter. I've also been running the Firm Shift Tune.... been running this way for a year....

Low and behold.... after restoring and getting an oil change from Chevy, I returned the same tunes to the vehicle. Only this time, I figured that I would modify the Firm Shift Tune and "TURN TM ON"... yup you heard me right... "ON"!

All I can say is... Got TM!?! It's what ya been missing! I promise you; I dare anybody with a similar set up on their L99 to "TURN TM ON", go full throttle, and see what happens!?! Your gonna chirp 1-2, do it again at 2-3, and scratch 3-4! Crazy thing is that the shifts literally feel like your be fired from a sling shot!!! I don't know why or how for that matter? Hell, at this point, I don't even care... all I know is that if you turn it "ON", you better hold "ON"!!!

I've been in disbelief all day, even figure that I must have read it wrong... so I turned it back "OFF" just to be sure? To my surprise, the shifts went back to what I was accustomed to... Don't get me wrong; they were still nice, but NOTHING like I had just experienced! So what do ya think I did.... Yup, turned TM back "ON"... I just wish I'd figure this out a year ago! All I can say is "GOT TM"?!? Turn it "ON" then chime in... you're gonna be sick about not knowing! Can't even begin to imagine what the Hard Shift with it "ON" would be like... and don't intend to find out... :drivingbad:

Perhaps someone fro DS can explain why the increase in shifting with TM "ON"... because it seems like it would be the other way around but this is not the case! :?:

That's what Mike L thought too, until he looked at my original TCM Backup & My last tune written, which was the Firm Shift Tune... TM was even defaulted to "OFF" in my original TCM factory tune, which he verified in the TCM Backup... Even if I restore the original backups and just go in and modify the factory TCM Tune by turning TM "ON", the shifts become AMAZING! Take a look at what he found in my original backup... NOTE: the "bug" that was talked about was not related to the subject... it was for another issue that I had asked about; just trying to keep things clear. :?:

I just received my product. I've never done anything like this before. Do I just select tune vehicle and follow directions from their? And another stupid question is do I need to keep the Diablo plugged in when I'm done. Like when I'm driving the car after I tune it? You have any pointers for me? Thanks

Just go to tune vehicle and then write vehicle and make sure the key is all the way in the on position first. After the vehicle is programmed then you no longer need to have it plugged in. The tool will tell you when it is ok to unplug.

Hey BlkWiddow SS (and others),

I just recently purchased a Diablo Sport Intune for my 2011 Camaro SS convertible. She has an upgradded CAI and axle back muffler delete. I applied the advance tune without messing with any of mods that are available and didnt really notice much of a difference. I was surfing around the forum when i came upon your post and the system changes you made. I figured what the hell, and applied your changes and OMG.....she's a different car! The change in power and torque is unbelievabe! I jumped on it with traction control on and the tires barked in 2nd and 3rd gears (mines an automatic). Its also much more pleasing to the ear with the AFM/DON turned off.

Thanks for the post......JRibknocker
