I have a 2005 2500HD gas, reg. cab long bed for a work truck. I usually haul around 500 - 1500 lb around in the bed all day in the city and get about 12 mpg.
Main interest is to increase my gas mileage. Has anyone in a similar situation found success with this, and how much of an improvement?

Most users have reported an average of 1-2 mpg gain, there is not too much we can do for mileage as GM did a good job of that in the first place.

If you haven't tried the performance 93 octane tune try it with a couple of tanks of 93. You might be surprised.
I have a H2 Hummer with the same 6.0L engine. It weighs in at 8600 lbs. on the scale with all the mods and offroad gear I carry in it all the time. My truck used to average 9.5MPG on the 87 octane tune. I went to the 93 tune and played with shifting some. My first tank of 93 averaged 12.3MPG. Thats a 30% increase in fuel milage for that truck.
The milage gain more than offsets the price difference of the 93 octane fuel. The truck has alot more power on the road also.

I've got a Vmax 6.0 and found threw several trials that the 87 tune gave me a solid 1-2 miles better. The 93 tune gave a nice boost of power, but no extra mileage. I highly recommend it.

I just did a quick excel spreadsheet which calculates cost per mile based upon an average price for 85/87/89 octanes figuring a ten cent differential in prices between them (also what you see here in CO).
If for instance like me in the winter you are getting 14.9 MPG on (85 OCT .1890 cents per mile) and with a tune get 2MPG better (16.9) running the highest octane (89 @ .1783 cents per mile, for us or 91 if you can find it) you would have a savings of roughly $220.0 per year.
If you get the 2MPG better running on the same OCT 85 then the savings is even greater @ aprrox $341.64 or .1662 cents per mile.
This is numbers based upon our gas prices and a 15k per year mileage on your vehicle.
I typically drive about 15k per year.

Hey everyone, new to the site today. Got my Predator couple of days ago and haven't put a tune in yet. Going to Sunday, just checking what everyone else is doing. I have a 2005 2500HD EXT cab 6.0L w/285/75/16 otherwise stock for now. On the gas mileage thing I've only had the truck two weeks and I'm only getting 11.7 MPG city, hiway and plowing combined. Hopefully will do a little better. I will chime in later on about more issues.
