Trinity just stopped working today

I have 2016 GMC DENALI 5.3 8 speed been running this trinity for a month. It didn't support any gauge layout for the 16 GMC but nothing to lose sleep over,,,,,
Headed to work today and trinity just shut down and stability light comes on and steering assist as well.
So I wasn't sure what happen but the trinity had shut off before when monitoring so I unplugged it and plugged back in and no problems. So I unplugged to reset again and lights immediately go off on dash. I plug back in warning lights for stability and steering assist come right back on but trinity doesn't power on. So I try this a few times same result so I just keep unplugged for the day on way home try it again same thing. So I check power at obd port when I get home all is fine. Check cord on trinity looks great. So I bring in house plug to the computer nothing but' while looking at it I can smell plastic like she is cooking so I immediately unplug. I fear this thing is toast and I have 87 tune in truck with a dead unit. Anyone ever has this problem? This is my second trinity never had a problem with first one in 2011 Dodge Ram also own a I1000 and sold my new I2030 to buy this one. No problems. I am no new comer to playing with tuners. I did download a copy of my stock tune on my computer when I first got it. Can these be fixed? If so my fear is will it happen again? Probably should of keep the i2030 don't hear about nearly the problems I hear about these but I wanted the gauges which like I said had to select 2015 to work. So does these trinity really support the 16's? Just to go out like this? Looking forward to hearing from someone.

Im not sure what happened there but we can get the tool in to fix it for sure.

Unfortunately, the Trinity doesn't allow us to tune over a previous tune, so you'll need to have the truck flashed by a GM dealer to get it back to stock once the tool is repaired in order to reload the tunes.

Please give us a call and we'll set up an rma# for you to send the device in.

I have a copy of my stock tune saved to my computer. This should take care of the need to reflash at the dealership. So I should be able to send this over to you to reload on the tool once fixed. This is why we save a copy of our stock tune like everyone says we should do correct?

nope, it doesn't and can't work like that.. can't put that copy of the tune file back into the trinity as the original backup.. it would be loaded as a custom tune.. and the trinity would detect it as already being tuned so it would not let you use it/tune it again...

you HAVE to get your vehicle flashed back to original factory stock by your dealer before you'll be able to use the reset/fixed trinity on it again.

This makes no sense so saving the stock file means nothing? So what will a dealership charge me to reflash? Plus the price to have the tuner repaired Oh boy no putt intended Lew you have done/did awesome with my vette not long ago just frustrating.
