Hi,
I bought a used 2008 charger RT and then purchased the i3 tuner for this car. I updated it multiple times with each time I did the check for update noting that an Update Was available, so I installed it every time it noted that was the case.
I did that 3 times, and then tried to take the tuner to the car to attempt to tune it but upon plugging it in and trying to set the 93 tune it noted that the ecu in this car had been modified before and it noted I needed to restore that original tune before it could apply any of its Tunes to the vehicle.
The problem is I didn't use any tuner on the vehicle so no idea where that is or what it is.
Is there a way to get past this issue? can it record whats existent today as the "default base" tune to restore somehow and then apply the i3 tune?
If not I suppose I may need to return this for a refund if I can't make use of it to tweak my car.
Please let me know what debug steps to follow to attempt to get this to Work for the charger.
Thanks!
Gene

Additionally EVERY time I use the i3 for the chrysler to check for Updates it Finds that updates are available, but after installing each time, the same revision info is available in the xml file which appears to indicate nothings happened...
Is it not updating somehow? heres the contents of the XML file.

Actually before this last update the "installer" version info was noted as Missing... now its listing a version so maybe the updates happen incrementally instead of comprehensively? Do I just keep "checking for updates" till the thing can't find anything else to update and says as much?
Thanks,
Gene

Nevermind, after doing multiple updates it seemed to get the calibration config which it then applied to the charger and now the charger is tuned successfully.
Any idea if the transmission shifting firmness is not available for the 08 charger 5.7l? I keep getting an error saying it failed to update the firmness when I attempt to set it to Firm.
Will take it out here shortly for a drive and see how she works.

For the traction control disabling, it apparently also disables the emergency brake and abs? those lights both come on when I disable traction control.
Also is there a way to confirm that the MDS is off?
Thanks!

Hey there gene
you should be able to set shift firmness....do you have any codes?
If you do it will probably be a communication code as the tuner cannot read Transmission codes.
I'm pretty sure you cannot turn of MDS, you need a CMR tuner for that.
I wouldn't advise running the car on Dyno mode.
Just press ESP and you can do burnouts etc as it defeats the " back tires going faster than front tires" portion of the traction control but not the " I'm going sideways in the corner " feature I think its called YAW.
Is your car stock other than the tuner?

Yes, TC disable takes ABS and ESP as well.bellerian1 wrote:For the traction control disabling, it apparently also disables the emergency brake and abs? those lights both come on when I disable traction control.

MDS disable is tough to confirm without getting up to cruise speed and make sure it stays in 8 cylinder mode.
Thanks
