ESP Off button and Predator tune question

Post by slack-axe »

I have an 07 300c with the 5.7. I am currently running the 93 octane tune (crom 9r04) with increased shift firmness, and 6,000rpm shift points.

I do not want to fully disable ESP which I know can be done via the Predator.......but I am wondering if the Diablo guys saw any performance difference with the 5.7 when pressing the "ESP OFF" button on the dash.

With the stock tune, hitting the ESP Off button would let you have much better launches off the line, and seemed to cut back on some of the torque management. Does hitting ESP Off button do the same thing with the Diablo Tunes? Is there a benefit to doing ESP Off when running the 1/4 mile with the canned tunes, or just straight-line acceleration in general?

One other quick observation -- even though I am doing the 6,000rpm shift points, the 2-3 and 3-4 shifts are happening at 6,100rpm. Is this normal?

Thanks as always for a kick-a$$ product.....

The tunes will raise the threshold for the ESP to kick in so leaving it on with the tunes will allow you for more spin than stock, turning it off will totally disable it so you have to make sure you know how to launch the car. It would be up to you weather or not to keep it on or off.
The shift at 6100 is normal.

Hi Johan,

when you say turning it off do you mean by pressing the button on the dash with the tune installed or by specifically disabling it through the hand held?

Cheers,

Off on the dash. The off on the predator is mainly for dyno use.

oh... I didn't know that. The dash button works this way (stock):

Press and release:
straight line traction disabled - you can spin the wheels
lateral/directional control relaxed - both intervention point and degree of intervention
ABS - on

Press and hold (with car stopped):
Straight line traction disabled
lateral/directional control disabled
ABS - on

So you're saying that the tunes already disable to the first step? (makes sense now that I think back on my experiences)?

If I press and release on the dash will that be a no-op with the tune installed?

I assume that disabling through the Predator will also disable ABS? (something you don't want on the street).
How does disabling through the Predator differ from Press and Hold above? Is it just ABS?
