7.3 Tune?

Post by fordtech »

I updated my 7170 a year ago big mistake the grass isnt always greener! Anyways I tried to reflash it after talking to Christy awhile back but that made no diffrence. In tow mode the mileage is fair, but the shifts with a trailer are to harsh. 60hp my mileage goes down and will not even roll a tire, with the tuners original tune I could wipe out tires. 80 hp is a waste, it puts out a tone of smoke and no lower end power and if you give it to much throttle it pukes and slows down, still shifts to hard. In 100hp which I had never tried, the mileage is wayyyy up shifts pretty good, but at 3/4 throttle it looses power and smokes bad. Do you have a tune to put it near the original I beleive it was r17 I bought it in 2004. FYI K&N Filter, 4" exhaust all the way, Banks Big Head controller, Banks upgraded impeller and I ported out the rear turbo housing and removed the heat riser. 2000 F250 auto 3.73 33" Tires. Mileage in town 14 - 15 Highway 100hp no trailer 18. Tow mode 16000lb trailer about 7 - 8 miles to gallon, used to get 11 towing same trailer with r17. Thanks, I know you put up with a lot of crap. P.S. Ford tech for 10 years 2 years as a diesel tech.

19dz I updated it about a month ago. The original order Through MotorHaven shows purchase date of 3/23/04 that revision it came with kicked ass. Wish I never updated but I thought it would be even better.

Cole is the tuning easier for Fordtechs truck? I have had no support for 5 mos now.

YEAR?

Post by fordtech »

FYI to all, I was trying to get this done over a year ago and changed my log name, which caused me for ever and a day get back in. And all I wanted was to put my tuner back to stock. And cole it did not work it is worse, the tune seams fine but it is back to what it was a two years ago when it shifts it double and even triple shifts very adrupt with a big pause and rpm flatens out before shifting. If I let out before it shifts its a little better and thats only half throttle. I will leave it and wait and see what your new 7170 that your working on for everybody comes out like. I may possibly go back to r19dz it shifted fairly well.

I have had similar problems with support and shfting and the new 19dz tune update. I liked the original files in my 2005 7170. Maybe they can not improve on them. Maybe they are purposely making the files weaker to sell a stacking product line.

Anyway I just got a new Superchips tuner on Monday April 28, 2008 and it works awesome. no more Diablo problems! No more codes being triggered. No more burning up my Glow plug circuit module. No more Theft system disabled

Crom File availability

Post by fordtech »

The crom file sent to me 7 3-7r19bz makes my mileage very unusable while towing, 7.6 manualy calculated. I went on the site and was going to re down load r19dz but it is not down loadable it is just letters not a link? Can I get this before Tuesday morning I have to drive N.Carolina from Fl I can not afford that kind of mileage. While towing in 19dz I got 8.5. Coming back empty in 19dz 100hp I used to get 18 - 19 no trailer. Yesterday running 19bz 65hp I was getting 220 miles to a tank no trailer single driver, I almost passed out. I did not even do the math help!

Well unless you have a better suggestion or the new one you are working on is available, I would like to go back to 19dz. I wish I new what number it was when I bought it in 2004 that was the best I beleive. Your down load page seams to be deactivated for croms. Thanks for your time.

Well I do not know what happened, I re installed 19dz that you sent we were running empty to Georgia and first tank was 18.5 at 80 mph in 100hp. Then we refilled and were heading up a grade stood on it to pass another truck and thought my engine exploded! We eased off the road checked everything over even drained the fuel seperator to see if it had any water, all good. Truck was still shaking pretty ruff so I stopped and reloaded tow tune, reason for I have had really bad mileage with 60 - 80hp. We made the rest of the trip with out fault allthough I feel like I am running on a dead cylinder but no codes and no blow by. Mileage was 15 .3 hand calculated, that was another issue my digital over head went blank the day I loaded 19dz but I do not know if that is related, I would see no conecction. Any word on the new crom?
