Full list for PIDs and Modifiable Parameters

Post by heinz57 »

Is there a full exploded list for the i3 showing all the PIDs and Modifiable Paramters? Along with a description of what each means or impacts if changed?

No, there are so many options across all the different vehicles/pcms.
Is there something specific you are curious about?

I agree and think a basic list with explanations would be a huge help getting my truck dialed in. I understand some of the pid's but there's more than a few that I have no clue either what they are or I know what they are but don't know what adjusting them will do.

pid vs modifiable params is a huge subject, can you specify which params you do not understand?

Sure. I've got a 2012 Ram 5.7. 65RFE trans. i3 platinum. To start with, and I'm learning here so please be patient, Spark at WOT and fuel at WOT. What am I looking for in a data log that tells me if these parameters are adjusted for optimum performance?

Well, it starts with a solid understanding of what you are changing and why.
WOT spark is to adjust timing at wide open throttle in different rpm ranges. WOT fuel is same but controls Air/Fuel ratio at wide open throttle in the same rpm ranges.
Knock should be logged to determine if spark is where it wants to be.
Fueling requires an additional wideband be installed to see the actual AFR before you can even guess as to whether it wants more or less fuel.

Exactly. I could not have said it better. I DO need a solid understanding of what I'm changing and why. That is the answer to your reply when this discussion began. If I'm going to use the i3 I purchased to it's fullest potential, then yeah, I want to learn everything about it and how it interacts with the systems in my truck . Any suggestions or resources I can use to gain that solid understanding? Thanks!

Also, Can I plug an afr gauge into the 1/8" headphone jack on the i3? Just kidding. What gauges do you think work best?

the headphone jack is indeed for the AFR gauge or any 0-5V signal you want to log.

Lots of info to be had from reading through some of the threads and stickies here.

Hey, so you may have already found this but if not, when you open dataviewer and click on the help button, there is a list of parameter acronyms. It doesn't give you any info on the why's and how's but it does help with the what's what. It says there are 20,000 parameters and the database is constantly growing. Hope this helps just a little.

Something like an ExCEL spreadsheet. Col 1 the PARAMETER, Col 2 the Min and Max range, Col 3 The impact on performance
and Col 4 other parameters that pair well Col 5 Parameters that should not be changed with this one.

This hit and WTF factor of no knowledge doesn't seem right. Maybe its just me having that issue.

HOW ABOUT A SIMPLE LIST IN A PDF OF WHAT THE PARAMETERS ARE. NOT JUST "AIR/FUEL RATIO"
