Hard downshifts when warmed up? (2012 JKU)

Post by EastonNolan »

I bought a 2012 JKU with 100k mikes this past spring. Over the past few months, when it’s been warm, it would feel like the transmission is about to fall out when it downshifts during acceleration. Oddly, it doesn’t do this while it’s cold or for the first 30 +- minutes, but if I shut it down, start it back up and go (after being warm), I’ll run into the “hard downshifts” frequently.

I can combat this by manually shifting (have an automatic by the way), but I’d like to figure out what the issue is and get it resolved.

Anyone have any ideas before I take it to a garage to have them “figure it out”? Thanks for your help.
