Trinity T2 freezes up

Post by James O »

I have not used the device much at all yet as its pretty new.
The device freezes up all the time and has all the latest and greatest updates.
Is it common for it to freeze up almost every time I turn it on?

No, not at all. What vehicle is it?
Can you post the serial number?

2020 Hellcat Redeye
Device 202015885

It will start up fine and I can select tune but everytime I navigate through settingsto fast or select options for dataloging, it freezes up.
I contacted a different tuner for a quote so I can go back to HP Tuners. This thing is too expensive to freeze up all the time.

I haven't seen or heard of similar issues, have you reported anything to our support team?
They'll gather runtime data from the device and have engineering go over it to see whats happening.
I am using a T2 on a 16 Hellcat and we also have a 19 Redeye and 22 TRX here, all of them with T2s in use daily. I'm sure its a simple fix.

What a piece of crap! I decided to mess with this tuner again and it keeps freezing up and when it kind of works it does not save the data log file in the correct format.
Says log file is invalid format

My T2 EX used to freeze up its fair share and was actually quite slow, slow af really. I ran it for 5 yrs and just dealt with it, but I agree on the cost and its functionality. I purchased the HP Tuner system about 18months ago mostly because I was tired of my tuner dude thinking he was part of the MIB team and would share nothing about his changes nor contribute anything to a troubleshooting effort but that is a whole different thread, just my reasoning. Anyway, I log with one system or the other every time I start my engine, modified 392, and there is really no comparison between the two systems for logging and digital gauge set. Your T2 is worth what you paid for just for those two purposes, gauge set (alarms and warnings) and logging (touch of button). I could bust out my pro / con list comparison but I think a little thought towards my last sentence really says it all.

You just need to get the updates working. Mine previously crashed and was so slow, but last week I was able to have the T2 update its firmware and I spin no tale, the little gizmo is kick'n ass. No crashes, boots up to selection start screen three times faster, gauge displays are almost immediate and even when doing gauge configuration, in and out like of all screens on command. The updates didn't go very well first time even though everything said that it did. I use the Updater 1.0 package and updated with USB, then back in my truck I found additional updates through WiFi, so we completed those - all posted successfully. I shorted my AEM AF gauge on my header 3 weeks ago (again different thread) and this caused a problem with my T2, jacked it up actually, I thought it was cooked. These updates were an effort to correct this jacked up condition so when all these updates didn't restore the T2s abilities it was obvious.

But I wanted my T2 so I tried again and here is all it took:

The T2 is ONLY plugged into the ODB2 connection in vehicle,
Under Settings configure your T2 WiFi settings with a valid internet WiFi connection,
Under Settings....Restore Default Settings
Under Settings.......Check for Updates. (NOT Updater 1.0 with Laptop and USB. WiFi only)
T2 found updates, installed and rebooted while I sat there and watched. Once it completed the WiFi updates my T2 not only had all functionality restored but it is fast, does not crash, the screens look great and the tabbed PID list (Basic and Advanced) puts HPT's PID list bs to rest.

I hope it works for yours like it did mine. If this hadn't worked on mine I was doing exactly what Mikel suggested above (and I really did not want to ). Good luck

Edit: [Deleted] My T2 is very cable specific. Happy to report EVERYthing works beautifully!! I will also add, hats off to Diablosport crew, the new updates and DV2 - supersic!

where are you trying to open the log?
the .log files will open in our dataviewer or dataviewer 2 software.
